I say this as someone who likes Fields, but he wouldn’t get eviscerated after a game like this if he was playing like Jalen Hurts in all the other games lol. It’s pretty simple—star player gets benefit of the doubt for lackluster game while the player who consistently has games like this is more regularly criticized.
We don’t need to do this after every primetime game where a good QB underperforms. We’ve seen Fields play terrible and we’ve seen him play great. He needs to keep stacking positive games and get more consistent in the pass game.
Truthers have to do this. It's strange. At least wait until after Fields has an elite game against a good defense. But pointing out fault in other proven QBs isn't the way.
This is grasping at straws because it’s too hard to admit we’re bad and there’s so many variables it’s actually somewhat impossible as a fan to be clear on the order of operations.
The only thing I’m truly clear on is that the coaching staff and ownership needs to change before I have long term hope in this becoming a legit franchise.
