I was given zucchini seeds for Christmas. What do I need to do? What kind of soil, pot, conditions? Help needed. TIA.

They’ll spread quite wide, so preferably either in a garden bed or a long rectangular pot. Standard potting mix should be fine, plus some fertiliser to help them flower and grow nice zucchinis.

Soak to sprout. Pot in a small pot to get going. Plant somewhere with a lot of room for the big leaves. It might be a bit late but seasons are getting wacky.

Zucchinis would always freaking wilt on me in the heat and then get all mildewy before you could bat an eyelid so make sure it's not debilitating full sun unless you have regular irrigation (avoid getting too much water on the leaves).

Give it as much space as you can.
