Guess who survived the treacherous car journey...

BBOI DID! without a single noise.

First thing he did when he got out of his little travel bag was eat and gave massive headbutts and just flopped

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Such a brave warrior.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Well done bboi, you deserve a good flop and a scritch

Crime scene have been and gone ... was another burglary nearby and a fair few around the area.
Realised when I went to have a look that the garage was open and Dad's camera had been stolen - but since it hasn't been touched since at least 1990 I doubt it was in working order.
Anyway the cops agreed that they seem to have confined themselves to the porch and back room (and the garage).

You mean the very real very much working antique camera, right?? Edit: sorry I think I heard you say it was rare too, correct?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Check for all the tools and equipment.

Fuck me, got up to feed the cats and use the loo and found that the house had been broken into - two of the windows and the back door were open.
Main thing is the cats didn't escape, nothing's been stolen and I'm fine, just a little shaky.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh that's shit. I'd call the cops and your insurance company in any case.

[–] oztrin@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Cops have been called, hadn't thought of the insurance company.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Whatever you do, DO NOT tell the insurance company what you think might be missing over the phone. Tell them the cops have been called, and you'll send through a list of missing items once you have it itemized.

They might try and trap you into listing things over the phone. Don't say you don't think anything is missing either. Take your time to put a list together, and be generous to yourself.

Another update: just realised they took a couple of rings and a pendant value less than $50, and a couple of coins including a quite distinctive one.
Joke's on them as they missed stuff that's far more valuable and/or sentimental.

I want to thank everyone for their cheese advice yesterday.

About to head down to the bellarine with a kilo of assorted cheeses and will do all the cheese recommendations.

And bboi butters the burmese kitty is being dropped off today and he will help hopefully.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Made my day with bboi announcement. I am now primed to receive new images of this beautiful kitty.

I've put about a months worth of movies/TV shows on my external hard drive for the cruise just in case I run out of bingos/trivias/lounging/audiobooks/etc. It's nice to have options. My tablet/laptop can run games too so I've got Death Stranding and EA Sports PGA Tour on there. I think Jedi Survivor might still be installed too.

I think I'm covered. It's almost time to whip the suitcase out and start packing!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

We are gonna need lots of pics bull. Bon voyage.

[–] Slayers_Picks@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Usually I just lurk around these parts because... I have commitment issues I guess lol

Just reading up so much in between MMA writing and Reddit posting, but I've noticed some regulars have even left here?? Like hongo and omikiri ...I think I spelt that right

Anyway enough rambling. Christmas was ok and shit as usual, thought Wollert was going to flood yesterday but the storms didn't stay for long. Dreading new years with all the fireworks as I don't know if it'll be legit or we're being invaded lol

Half jokes

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Omoikiri is still around sometimes. She's Dr. Omoikiri now.

We had eh.. a bit of a fallout with Hongo.

Hongo had a bit of an episode, some people tried to talk her down and we weren't the best at it, she lashed out, got told attacking people wasn't ok and in the state she was in set fire to everything on the way out. I hope she comes back, or even that she's just ok and it's imagined embarrassment that's keeping her away. She had an episode, it doesn't mean the end of everything unless you want it to.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Smeg and OIP aren't around any more either, I'm just guessing they moved onto spending less time on the internets lol. Something I'd like to aim for in 2024

Got a head start on new years and massively cleared out my primary email (going back to 2004! 2004!!!) after being nagged by google for months about running out of storage. Deleting nearly two decades of Fw:Fw:Fw: from aunties and uncles as well as about 30,000+ newsletter/promo emails has done the job. I should probably be okay for another two decades.

Finally marked as read/deleted a stack of ignored/unread emails too and am at inbox zero for the first time in a decade. Feelsgoodman.jpg

Pop on your best tartan and munch on some shortbread, it's time for the Edinburgh Tattoo on the ABC. Love me some bagpipes.

Couldn't sleep with bloat and back pain again so I've come to the gym. Been.. a while since I've stepped foot in this place which I pay handsomely for access to.

Heavy lat pulldowns might have solved the back problem, hopefully. Few cracks and pops.

I'm so tired.

Mrs is at work so it’s a dad/kiddo day. She’s been gone 2 hours and he’s already managed to smash his head on the floor. Nice going dad. Having to call the Mrs and be like “yo this happened” on day 1 is not a good start.

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i managed to smash my head on the wall, while sitting in bed, with 4 adults beside me

One in the morning, I hear people driving;
I'm here drinking, they're leaving and arriving,
Because I have a day in lieu,
I worked all Saturday through,
So here I am drinking, and they're all driving;
Hello inebriation, I am now arriving.

If you're feeling dull or uninspired by your life... watch Beyond Utopia, a 100% real footage documentary of a family escaping North Korea and life inside the country. How the fuck they filmed it boggles me, especially with their life on the line in the mountains of Laos.

Every grain of rice feels precious tonight...

So still and humid, made taking all the Chrissy decoration down an extra annoying chore. So glad to have the house back though, I hate the clutter of Christmas decorations, I find they look gaudy not matter what you do.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

argh, My other reddit account has been suspended for suspicious activity 😟

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago (5 children)

So who/what were you suspicious of?
I'm very glad I've stopped going to r/melbourne (except now and then to observe). Not a patch on what it used to be.

Ugh, I’m still having to log in every time I visit here. Boo.

Any recommendations on shops to pick up nice discounted Christmas cards and wrapping paper? This is usually the time of year I pick up next year’s supplies haha.

I was given zucchini seeds for Christmas. What do I need to do? What kind of soil, pot, conditions? Help needed. TIA.

[–] the_procrastinata@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

They’ll spread quite wide, so preferably either in a garden bed or a long rectangular pot. Standard potting mix should be fine, plus some fertiliser to help them flower and grow nice zucchinis.

What a lovely day it is outside. I've scootered myself to the District to see Aquaman and the vibe here (at least around what I guess you'd call the Food Semi Circle) is great. This feels like the correct number of people to be here. Plenty around but you can still find a seat no problem.
