Yoko's story in TTGL is possibly the most tragic. She
Very spoilery gurren lagann stuff you shouldn't click here if you intend to watch it.
falls for the revolutionary leader, who dies in the process of the revolution he started, abandons politics post-revolution to hide herself away in a remote part of the world as a teacher of children with the intention of never subjecting herself to the pain of any form of relationship again, only to get dragged back into ANOTHER revolution when it's clear that the first revolution didn't fully liberate them, where she promptly falls for another revolutionary who she knew from the first revolution, who promptly dies as well. She throughout all of these events entirely sacrifices herself for the cause, sucking it up and stuffing those feelings down because she believes in the cause more than her personal feelings, even while other people around her aren't controlling their emotions anywhere near as well, she knows someone has to.Also she's a rad chick with a huge gun that believes in her gun solving the problems.
.
She's a role model. She's a reminder that these things are not without sacrifice.
This particular gif is from the end of this music video and I just like the feeling of sweeping into a thread, dunking and being like "CIAO" sunglasses/hand wave and the framing of it is absolutely perfect for a profile pic crop with the head/hand lining up.
Also TTGL is blatantly marxist agitprop and you can't convince me otherwise. Classic Trigger/Gainax.
