Not sure if this counts as "world news", but RIP Doge :(

Edit: Kabosu's owner had this to say on Instagram:

To all of you who loved Kabosu,

On the morning of the 24th of May, Kabosu crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you all so much for your support over the years.

She went very peacefully without suffering, as if falling asleep while feeling the warmth of my hands petting her.

Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years.

I am certain that Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world.

That makes me the happiest owner in the world.

I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has sent us much love to us.

This should be so very wrong, but somehow it feels... appropriate... a meme of true peace.

RIP Kabosu.

Poor taste, yet mandatory.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Much like the internet itself.

[–] geogle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

very appreciate

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 145 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm surprised she was still alive. And 18 is an amazing age for a dog, even a smaller one like her.

[–] simple@lemm.ee 54 points 1 year ago (1 children)

She looked great for her age too, her owner really took care of kabosu.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 52 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's good to know she died well-loved. That's how every dog should die and it's heartbreaking that so many don't.

Get along little doge.

A wave doesn’t die, it returns to the sea. Kabosu’s echo will ring louder than the barks they made on this earth.

Rest in power, friendo.

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 40 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well now what is dogecoin backed by?

Surely it loses all value now doge herself is dead?

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 42 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Don't worry friendo, Dogecoin is just as stable and sound a currency as it ever was....

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago (2 children)

RIP pup! Here’s my two knuckleheads, Riolu (black and tan with creeping tan) and Jango (red)

[–] die444die@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Is Riolu not a sesame?

Edit: here’s mine, Nibbler (black and tan) and Yoshi

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Aww! They’re adorable! Love the names too!

No, Riolo isn’t a sesame. There are similar color schemes but I think the breeder was a shady backyard breeder. She was all black and tan and then the head got that tan/red color as she aged.

[–] die444die@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah okay I couldn’t see her back so it just looked sesame. They’re cute as heck.

thank you for paying pup tax upfront

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It is my genuine pleasure!

[–] Scotty_Trees@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ngl, I'm tearing up to this. 18 is a long time for a dog, some breeds don't typically live passed a handful of years. I've got a lil pup of my own and this just reminds me to be grateful for having him while I still do. Gonna give him some extra happy pets today while I try not to tear up. God I love dogs.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

They are testing the life extension drugs on our bigger breeds of dogs currently. If the drugs work, then even the bigger breeds could live till 20 or so. It will also pave the way for human testing, since that's much harder to get past the FDA

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

But he will love forever in our collective consciousness. RIP.

I remember seeing this dog die before. Wtf dejavu

[–] simple@lemm.ee 28 points 1 year ago

You might have been confused with Cheems, which died last year

[–] Zehzin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You might be thinking of Longcat, who died a few years back. Or maybe Gabe the Dog

Never really understood the meme, because it's just a normal picture of a normal dog. However, thanks for being a dog there friend.
