Wait, they aren't even pursuing to be on the ballot in my state?? kitty-cri-screm

That was the only reason I was gonna bother showing up to vote

I just wrote in the PSL candidate last election

Votes in the last election are partially how it is being decided where to pursue getting signatures this cycle, so even writing in could help with data next go around. Nationals is being more selective in where they're encouraging chapters to collect signatures to maximize the effectiveness of volunteers' and members' activities

Damn my state isn't even attempting ballot access.

It's weird that they aren't doing it in Colorado. We were a Bernie state in 2016 and 2020 and there's a very active PSL chapter in Denver. The swing state strategy makes sense but I'm voting for my dog if I can't vote for them.

Nationals has been looking at payoff for the work collecting signatures vs other activities of chapters and is only really encouraging a push for officially getting on the ballot if it seems like an easy time getting the necessary signatures. Even though it feels good to see PSL on the ballot we can all agree it's purely symbolic and they will never be elected in the current climate. This does a good job tamping down the criticism that we're too focused on electoralism too

That's good. SC no shit? Hopefully you can grab some before the desdlines. Utah even more suprising given the frothingfash Guns God n Gays Mormon saturation.

Eh. I’m sympathetic to electoralism—I think it’s a bad idea to outright reject it—but this is just dumb tbh.

PSL running candidates or the post calling to up the numbers?

[–] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

The former.
