Geuinely bizarre the press is still doing this dance. Ukraine wasn't ever getting into Nato. The US has said as much repeatedly and recently. So have other Nato members. It was always a ruse.

Zelensky admitted it too. Like a couple months after the invasion he did some interview with BBC I think, and he just off handedly says the US has no plans of accepting Ukraine but that they needed to keep the appearance of the possibility
