It may sound harsh, but I hope natural selection did it's job. You can't be this stupid and not be a danger to society.

Unfortunately they often decide for their children as well.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

That's kinda how natural selection works.

Unfortunately those living brain donors would take their children, pets, spouses, and elderly with them.

So you mean, a possible Darwin Award?

This is just normal people being dumb, for a lot of people they can't look beyond their own experience and think of the bigger picture.

I've had someone tell me storm warnings were dumb and should be abolished because they rode their bike to work during a storm warning. It's just a bit of rain and wind they said, it's just fear mongering, people can use their own judgement. About 20kms from where they live someone was killed due to the storm.

"You don't need to look both ways when crossing the street! I've never done it, and I've never been hit!"

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago

It takes an extraordinary false sense of intellectual superiority to willingly ignore a known lethal danger just to spite the feds. That's not normal, and it goes way beyond stupid.

"I've never been mauled to death by a bear, all these warnings are just fearmongering!"

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 22 points 10 months ago

I don't know, I'd say the COVID booster part elevates it from normal stupid to crazy.

[–] LaserTurboShark69@sh.itjust.works 12 points 10 months ago

I had a coworker argue that the government shouldn't be able to issue emergency alerts to cell phones because it induces panic

[–] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 5 points 10 months ago

And the same people will argue that the person being killed is 100% at fault because there was a warning after all!

I just checked outside. There's light rain going on but NO TORNADO! There is also no sign of Chicago.

STOP IT WITH THE CHICAGO MONGERING!!

As for my order, I'll take two chicken nugget burger, large coke and one nacho burger, if they still have that

[–] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 6 points 10 months ago

I personally never even saw any proof that America exists at all!

From my window in Germany, I can't see any sign of America at all! Or Asia for that matter!

Why the fuck do they think they “deserve” anything for doing this? I see entitlement like this in quite a few posts. Where did that come from?

[–] Zipitydew@sh.itjust.works 16 points 10 months ago

People this dumb always existed. We've just made it trivial for them to share their brain droppings with us.

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

they think that, due to the mildest, most trivial inconvenience (which might not even have affected them at all), they are entitled to whatever they want, immediately, as a form of compensation for that inconvenience, real, merely perceived, or otherwise.

Hope that dude didn't stick around and watch, but if he did, it serves him right.

[–] yokonzo@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Yeah one ran right through Genoa and I was pretty worried because we only have outdoor basement access, we would have had to carry our two easily traumatized cats into the pouring rain and wind and. Get the door open

Oh hey, I've never seen Mokena on the Internet before. Weird.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Local ~~957~~ 597 is there. This completes my list of everything I know about Mokena

[–] Duranie@literature.cafe 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

*597?

I lived on 187th for 7 years, just moved to Wheaton a couple months ago. NOW Mokena shows up somewhere?!? Lol

Where I'm at in Wheaton still doesn't have power, and from what I hear with all the damage some places aren't expected to till Friday.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

....yes. I hope my friend doesn't see this because he will kill me (not really) for getting his union wrong lol

I blame the liberal media for the power outage!! They faked the tornados and cut the power to cover it up!!!

[–] Duranie@literature.cafe 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

These woke windmills are out of control! We didn't have storms like this when I was a kid before they started building those damned windmills!!!

(Just threw up in my mouth a little)

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Windmills are just big liberals fans!

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

I have a feeling this poster was a bit hangry.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if that's an LLM.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

LLM or not, we’ve got a stochastic parrot on the loose.
