Found this cool blog post listing European bike brands

Not all(most I assume) are made in Europe, I think Taiwan is one of the most common :(

This list is missing quite a few Dutch bike brands.

If I would list just a few of the major players of the top of my head, they would be:

  • Gazelle
  • Batavus
  • Cortina
  • Union

I'm very angry that you're so aggressively adding to the list. Do it one more time and I'll say thank you

But yeah looks like they're listing just "top 3" from each country based on some random metric

There is also VanMoof, but it might be better to just forget that one exist :)

Huh, I own a Batavus road bike. For some reason I always thought the brand is Italian.

But aren't all frames basically from China? I've seen a report on how only America tride to protect their market.

Somehow I have in my mind that Taiwan is the most common manufacturing country for bicycles but I'm probably biased always looking at the more high-end cycling stuff. There Taiwan is lot more common than China

Could be! I might be mistaken, but I only wanted to point out that all frames sold in europe weren't produced in Europe, just assambled..

[โ€“] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah, mentioned that in the OP too because I think it's rather important detail. I don't know for sure that all are manufactured outside Europe, but most are for sure

At least the frame in some cinelli models is manufactured in Italy

Most of frames comes from China & Taiwan, but there is a big industry in Portugal (Agueda area), i. e. frames from Riese und Mรผller (German brand) are made in Portugal.

Lots of local brands are made in EU as well (Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, France...)

Very cool list, thank you I discovered plenty of interesting brands.

For Spain Iโ€™ll add NUA bikes. Homemade tailor made titanium bikes that makes me drool.

Check out Fidusa, a Greek brand that also makes hand made bikes.
