Americans eating like they got free healthcare or something.

[–] scapegarced@sopuli.xyz 27 points 2 months ago

There is a reason the "standard american diet" abbreviates to sad.

[–] svc@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 69 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Heart disease in that 10% remaining. It hits so hard, the other diseases don't even get a chance 😢

[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hey man, I was a fat ass with high cholesterol and pre diabetic. I ate keto and cut most carbs from my diet (20mg max a day) and not only did I lose 60lb, my arthritis and back pain disappeared. My cholesterol is at an acceptable levels without medication.

Sugars and carbs are what is unhealthy. Not meats and fats.

[–] Squirrelsdrivemenuts@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This has lots of potatoes that are high in carbs, so I don't think it's keto. Also, everything is healthy in moderation (except stuff like smoking, alcohol) and unhealthy if you eat to much and the keto diet is definitely not for everyone, so be careful making those generalized claims.

[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

When I'm in ketosis, there would be no way I can eat that entire plate in 1 sitting unless I'm working out. That played including the potatos is like 2 meals.

Keto helps you consume less foods since you feel more full. Sugars doesn't make you feel more full.

[–] Squirrelsdrivemenuts@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Again, I'm happy that worked for you but it is not true for everyone and no claim like "sugar bad, fat good" is ever going to help everyone get more healthy. I myself lost weight by increasing fiber and protein (so many lentils and beans) and decreasing unhealthy snacks. But take my pasta and bread and I will feel unhappy and unmotivated and not move a muscle all day.

A low carb diet high fat does not necessarily give you high ldls, which is what clogs those arteries. Same can be said about sugar, which can be stored as fat and clogs those same arteries. As long as everything is in moderation, there is nothing wrong with eating like a dog on its birthday!

[–] svc@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, but it looks like there's quite a bit of cheese melted on top of two of those servings of eggs. Plus the potatoes may have been roasted with an unhealthy oil. I agree, everything in moderation. For most meals, this person should stick to one serving of bachelor chow.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I dont really like eggs much, but it looks less like cheese to me than just really runny eggs

[–] brillotti@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Americans don't know what real cheese looks like. Their "cheese" is cheeto orange, almost fluorescent.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Yes they know what cheese is, Wisconsin +cheese is a frequent writing trope

[–] frostysauce@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

America bad, amirite?

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago
[–] kn0wmad1c@programming.dev 47 points 2 months ago

Technically correct, because this diet would kill 90% of the people

[–] formergijoe@lemmy.world 47 points 2 months ago

Can't get diarrhea if you've got a bowel blockage.

[–] BaronVonBort@lemmy.world 45 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Everyone is focusing on the horror of the cholesterol but no one is asking the real question:

What kind of psychopath eats kiwi with eggs??

[–] needanke@feddit.org 17 points 2 months ago (3 children)
[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I thought the same, until I unfortunately realised they're not talking about the image we think they are

[–] needanke@feddit.org 12 points 2 months ago

Oh...

Yuck.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Yep, saw the lower right and audibly uttered, "Oh god!"

[–] Shou@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Gotta love how they added the fattiest vegetable/fruit to this dish.

"Hmmm.... needs some greens. Oh I'll just add the juiciest avocado."

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago

Weird, i thought it was brussel sprouts until i zoomed in on it.

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Jesus, I had convinced myself that was Green Beans or Pea Pods, but no, you're right.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

It's part of the carnivore diet. It's a dumb trend among American men, who think if they'd ate more than a handful of plant based stuff, they became vegan betamales.

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

it's a horrible day to have eyes

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 36 points 2 months ago

it’s not fast food so it’s better than many an American’s meal but you could do with less carbs and meats and eggs and more vegitables

[–] JoeTheSane@lemmy.world 31 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That’s way too much fucking food.

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I dunno, I could probably crush two of those plates

[–] Redex68@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I know multiple friends that easily eat that and myb 20-50% more on a regular and are some of the most fit people I know. Ofc they exercise a fuckton and only eating food like this would probably lead to cardiac arrest, but my point is it depends on the person.

Good lord, the amount of eggs there. The steak by itself doesnt look like a horrifying amount but thats gotta be like 6-10 eggs in each picture!

[–] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 4 points 2 months ago

Not everyone's body absorbs cholesterol from their diet. I love eggs too!

[–] Apocalypteroid@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

I got constipated looking at this post

[–] laserm@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Arguably people eating like this is a cause of many illnesses, and this is coming from a professional fatass.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 9 points 2 months ago

0 beans. Trash plate

[–] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 3 points 2 months ago

Now you've made me hungry, damn that look good

[–] gnygnygny@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Gastronomy ! *****

[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 1 points 2 months ago

My dog would have diarrhea for days

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I suspect this some kind of irony or satire like 100% of human diseases would disappear if everyone committed to a starvation / cannibalism diet
