Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

You need to boil the macaroni first. It's not supposed to be crunchy.

[–] Metostopholes@midwest.social 16 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait, are you not supposed to boil your tortilla chips?

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 weeks ago

don't forget the peas and tuna.

Sausage in the hole sounds so much better than toad.

What kind of weak-ass, soggy, no-meat-and-beans-having, baked-and-topped-with-bread-crumbs, bring-to-the-church-potluck, topologically-fucked-up nachos are you eating??

[–] coherent_domain 2 points 4 weeks ago

I want to point out that macaroni and tortilla chip are not even topologically equivalent. Hence, OP's statement is obviously ridiculous.

Never forget the beans.

franks red hot tastes like spicy vinegar bruh

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

You say that like it's a bad thing. I'm a total pepper head, but there are certain dishes where that cayenne vinegar is an essential flavor component.

[–] TheRedSpade@lemmy.world -4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

That's absolutely a bad thing. Vinegar is a cleaning solvent, not a food.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Agree. Sour and spicy are not the same thing!

[–] coherent_domain 1 points 4 weeks ago

more like vinegar than spicy vinegar TBH

Get yourself a nice smokey chipotle hot sauce in your mac and cheese. Best thing ever.

Aren't nachos also made of flour?

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Nachos are usually corn tortillas, not wheat flour tortillas.

[–] bert_brause@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I've never once seen it called that, at least not in American English. It tends to be labelled "cornmeal." Almost always ground coarser that wheat flour is.
