The lions are being bi now? They must have learned it from the tourists!!!

[–] SpikesOtherDog@ani.social 32 points 3 weeks ago

BiLiON pride.

[–] AndyMFK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 3 weeks ago

They're turning the freaking lions bi

I really did not understand the intention behind it for a solid couple of minutes.

It's supposed to be saving them Billions but they're missing an L.

Yeah. Most people would realize they can't make it work with the elements and go with another idea, but then there's the kind of person that doesn't understand that workers produce value and only see the cost of wages.

I didn't know Lions could be Bi. You learn something new everyday...

They learned from tourists.

Well, if you look at any animal species, assume variations to occur. There are so many different sexes, genders and sexualities out in the animal kingdom, but our society's cisheterosexual bias has conditioned us to believe that all animals are straight and cis...

As a reading suggestion you may look into Evolution's Rainbow by Joan Roughgarden

It was just my lame attempt at being funny. I'm fully aware that the animal kingdom is as diverse in sexuality as our own. ;)

Aw sorry, didn't get the irony in your original statement...

[–] Faydaikin@beehaw.org 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, it can be a bit tough to get across in text format. XD

According to my buddy who worked for Dow, part of these "savings" apparently was taking a hatchet to their R&D segment with a bunch of spray-and-pray layoffs (apparently a common happening these days). I realize Dow is mostly commodity chemicals these days which is much more preservative in nature than other segments of the chemical industry, but even so it sounds like they are killing any hope of competing with new technologies and moving to the "squeeze as much as possible out before it goes tits up" stage.
