Mr Prestege; History, P.E. and for one year, form tutor. Mainly he was funny, watched all the same comedy shows as me so we had little references and in-jokes nobody else got.

His history fact sheets were great too - he drew little comic strips and characters with speech bubbles. Made revising entertaining, a bit like the Horrible Histories books.

He sounds fun, really tried to connect with you guys at your level

Metalwork teacher.

Hammered process and procedure into us by making us make scribes for all of the workshops.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You still do metalworking then?

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, I work in IT, a place where process and procedure are lacking.

Heh, can relate.

Art teacher. He just wanted to get through the day then go home and blaze.

We had one cool one. Played us weird progressive rock that we hated at the time, but was actually full of bangers (Camel, Jethro Tull, Alan Parsons, ...). He let us jam with paint and didn't get too involved

Miss Kane, maths teacher. Not because I liked maths but because she was fucking hot.

Miss Phillips, art mistress, probably getting on for 60 but looked exactly as you’d expect of an artist and drove a sports car like she’d stolen it 🙂

Oh and Mr. Hamlyn, deputy head who was a genuinely decent, clever, and a funny guy who could reduce a class to tears of laughter.

Heh. Yeah I can somehow vividly recall the one or two hot teachers we had. Not sure what influence they had on me other than a few fantasies.

We had an art mistress! I know the exact aesthetic, absolute wild card with massive glasses and hippie outlook.

Now that you mention it, we also had one really decent deputy head. Always made the time, always, to talk to you on your level and try to find something to connect with you on. He wasn't funny, but he was inspirational. Can't remember his damn name anymore.

Previous head who went above and beyond for me. I never had a chance but I got one with him

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

sounds like a decent guy, what did he do for you if you don't mind sharing?

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mainly he showed me compassion, praise and made the system work for me. Never wanted nothing in return

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay wow, that's really decent. Not favouritism nor pity, just doing his job to support the next generation and giving praise where praise is due.

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 2 points 1 month ago

Yep he really made a difference to me
