Look, you're a textbook, I get that you don't wanna say fuck.

But fornicating is right there.

[–] youCanCallMeDragon@lemmy.world 28 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, but then they wouldn’t clearly mean fucking

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

I prefer to mate, thank you.

Unfortunately it's out of date, and fawning and freezing have since been added.

Fawning? As in giving birth? Giving adoration? Acting childish?

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago

Sucking up to the oppressor. Stockholm syndrome is an extreme example. It prioritises long term survival over freedom.

Basically, be nice to the bastard aggressive boss, and hopefully he won't fire you for looking at him funny.

That's freezing.

it doesn't matter how many f words they come up with, we're all saying the same one in the moment

[–] Ludrol@szmer.info 9 points 3 weeks ago

You are mixing up the four Fs

Fight Flight Freeze and Fawn as the response to Fear

And functions of hypothalamus that had shit mnemonic put in textbook.

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 weeks ago

Those are trauma responses, not exactly the same sort of list as basic biological drives. Inter-related, certainly, but not quite the same.

I’m just proud I got through this comment without saying “ackshually”.

ironically, the person experiencing all of the f things are all thinking the same f word regardless

[–] guillem@aussie.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Flop, funster, fib... It's like some authors need to leave their mark on that list by adding yet another F.

Ah yes the well known biological drive to put leftover food in the freezer.

Every time we frack I get this feeling And every time we drill, I swear I can fly

[–] EffortlessEffluvium@lemm.ee 2 points 3 weeks ago

I believe I can fly…
I believe I can touch the sky…

Oh look, it's the joke every psych 101 student for the last 50 years has learned. I hope Freshman year went ok for scandalousadventures.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 8 points 3 weeks ago

I took psych 101 at my local community college, we didn't learn this. What I did learn was that the majority of my class were either on or abusing prescription meds, based on their knowledge of the effects and side effects that came up during the lectures.
