General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I’m more interested in which Reform councillors are facing allegations of not having shared enough racist content.

What a surprise

Does anyone know how they are performing compared to UKIP, BNP and whoever it was before them?

[–] HumanPenguin@feddit.uk 9 points 4 months ago (2 children)

They now have councillors and MPs. That is not something UKIP or BNP ever achieved. 0

Interesting. I hope they continue sucking the life out of the Tories and dividing the right. Golden opportunity for Labour to tack left and get some socialism done!

With that piggy-eyed Tory in charge of the "Labour" party?

I admire your optimism.

[–] Churbleyimyam@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

I wouldn't say I'm optimistic.

When key members of the government receive funding from individuals linked to private health including the Health Minister, you can safely say Labour aren't planning any "tack left".

If your organization is named after (country) first, you can tell it's a right wing sumpremecy group

They've already followed in The Orange Menace's footsteps by banning anything but the Union Flag, St George's Cross, and county flags being flown at the council buildings they control. Presumably mostly to stamp out Pride flags.

In the US, the rule doesn't apply on "special occasions" – Bonners Ferry in Idaho passed a resolution stating that every day is a special occasion, so they could keep flying the Canadian flag as a sign of friendship. Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho just changed their flags to incorporate the Pride flag. 😅
