"sorry the audio cut out. Could you repeat that?“

“Im in the same room as you.“

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

"what? the reception in here sucks"

"wtf are you talking about"

"I'm.... I can... tunnel..." walks out the front door

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago

exit, stage left

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago

"Did I stutter?"

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 31 points 6 days ago (2 children)

“Could you rephrase that?” Works every time and makes it sound like you didn’t understand the wording rather than “I completely fucking spaced”

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I asked you what time it is.

[–] BangelaQuirkel@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Alright partner. Keep on rolling baby. You know what time it is?

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

works every time

them getting angry and confused when they have rephrase the same thing 5 times now

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Can we just shorten the reply to: "phrasing"?

Oh hey it's me in meetings!

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago

Huh? Oh, sorry, I was just thinking why this meeting was not a FUCKING EMAIL

Question: where do you draw the line between when you totally space when someone else is talking ~~and~~ vs getting offended when you realize the other person isn't listening?

edit - why isn't strikethrough not working for the suggested formatting?

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

where do you draw the line

For me, life is too short to get offended that the other person isn't listening.

Anyway, if everyone listened carefully to everything I say, I would have to be a lot more careful when I talk.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'd say the line is from knowing the person. It's one thing if someone isn't listening, it's another if they get distracted.

Nerotypicals do it too, just not as much.

When it happens to me, I'm honest and open about it "I'm really Slsorry, I just spaced out for a minute, would you mind repeating that?"

Sometimes I'll ask them to repeat because I'm "not getting it", which isn't a lie.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

my grandmother used to do it. she'd call me, ask me about my day, and then ignore and interrupt me once i began to answer her question. there are few things i can think of that were less infuriating. god rest her soul, she was a wonderful woman otherwise, but i still can't shake that feeling of worthlessness i felt whenever she did that - and she never had any idea it mattered, because i'd never dare call out my own grandma.

Sometimes the formatting leaves a space between the last highlighted word and the inserted characters which breaks the formatting. I usually have to go in and remove that space and add one after the formatting.

~~Automatic ~~formatting.

~~Fixed formatting.~~

i just realized what i thought was wrong.. i'm using old.lemmy.world, which apparently doesn't display it like you'd expect. oh well. old.lemmy has a ton of faults, but i still try to use it as much as possible over the other options. because i'm old, too.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 days ago

Just give them the response your brain has at the ready. 60% of the time, works every time.

Cowchop was a fun channel

them and Funhaus were the only good part of Roosterteeth

[–] techfox@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago

Honestly! I haven't thought about them for a while now. I think I'm gonna go on a CowChop binge starting with "the accident" and working backwards.

[–] Sammy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago

Honestly, the Hubby and I still watch him. He's moved to Twitch streaming mostly. Lotsa fun. No complaints.

[–] ziggurat@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Just wish I never did this when my wife spoke, thankfully she will repeat her self

[–] a4ng3l@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

[–] a4ng3l@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Already forgot about it myself…

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Happens to me in meetings all the time. I messed it up for my team a few months ago and my manager had me and a few others turn on our cameras because he thought I wasn’t paying attention.

I kind of was, but kind of wasn’t. It’s hard in a meeting of 9 people who spend 5 minutes each talking about things that have nothing to do with me but I have to pay attention in case I do have input to share.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 4 points 5 days ago

Listen boss, having me look at a camera is the surest way for me to NOT pay attention.

Now, if I work on something while you NTs ear rape me with your voice vomit, I'll actually hear the important bits.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago

Hmm that's interesting, I'm really not sure. What do you think?
