/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Potentially a holographic lover could also be unseen. Leave the tactile and force fields active but turn off the visible em field and you can do the best roleplay of patrick swayze and demi moore in Ghost.

You've thought about this before, haven't you?

It's one of the theories as to why we haven't seen any other intelligent species in the galaxy.

They develop to the point of being able to digitally create their own internal worlds and fantasies and infinitely live in a reality of their own making. They never have to bother exploring, communicating or broadcasting anything into the universe ever. Making them silent and invisible to everyone else.

Yes! I love the concept of "inner space", it's really cool. A lot of SF authors play around with this idea. In particular, Greg Egan explores it a good bit in Diaspora, as well as Peter F. Hamilton in the Commonwealth Saga. I recall Alastair Reynolds touching on the idea in various ways in the Revelation Space novels buuut I don't think things worked out very well in that instance.

like the paxans, THE END OF life aliens in voyager, although it can be considered alternate dimension, and the cytherians.

Hank Venture: Hey, Brock?

Brock Samson: [sighs] Yeah?

Hank Venture: How would you do it?

Brock Samson: You're asleep, quick jerk of the neck, never feel a thing.

Hank Venture: You've thought about this.

Brock Samson: Yes, I have.

You think you wouldn't keep looking, until you're staring into the void and the void pulses back at you, and then it's too late to look away.

Depending on the species in the afterlife ... that could be titillating, fascinating, erotic, painful or dangerous

And this, this is why no one else is allowed to have weed on the enterprise.

When Bev gets blazed…. Things get weird.

Widening and narrowing? Ghosts have a conical penis?

[–] auraithx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Coming completely out on each thrust is much scarier.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

[–] kuneho@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

it depends what ghost it is. if it's a pokémon ghost, then yeah, sure, it can be tapering.

[–] Ajel@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Well, not a ghost but there is a Milo Manara comic called Butterscotch in which there is an invisible man.... Some anal does happen

[–] Wazowski@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

This here is poetry.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 3 points 3 days ago

It was a deleted scene. The execs didn't think Demi acted surprised enough upon seeing Whoopi perform her special trick.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago
