A UK-centric Electric Vehicles community, where discussion/news of the wider European continent is welcome.

All discussion of EVs (and hybrids for the moment), charging networks, etc, welcome!

No USA/Americas news unless it is relevant to the UK/Europe - most of the existing EV communities on Lemmy are awash with US discussion, please use one of those. US news and discussion will be removed.

The main "global" EV community is !electricvehicles@slrpnk.net

This is really pretty amazing how poorly designed the Tesla doors are, where if the power fails (like in a crash or a fire), you might need to remove the speaker grill or two separate panels to get to the emergency mechanical door release.

Jesus Christ how are any of these things even road legal outside of freedumbland??

Staggering incompetence in the design. Just absolutely antagonistic disregard for the lives of the back seat passengers.

And this is from a company that bills themselves as Apple-style design geniuses! Like, Christ, make doors that open, THEN break out the black turtlenecks.

I think what OP means is, why is this legal to begin with. You would think at least the EU would ban something like that, regardless of what Musk thinks is good design.

That'd be smart, TBH.

Elon can suck my scrote... I bought an early Y.

There's already an emergency release on the door. It's a physical lever.

"So now that the doors can't open we should reinforce the windows to be slightly bullet proof so firefighters and bystanders can't get in and you can't get out." Tesla design team

Elon presiding over the design team, or at least the survivors of his latest purge: GIF and it's pronounced like it rhymes with "Jeff"
