Russia has always been a scourge on humanity and always will be, until the West can find the resolve to destroy it.

Wow, there's a lot of angry Russian trolls here

Just like Reddit.

Careful there, that’ll put a strain on your faculties.

Personally I'm in favor of a combined European offensive on Moscow.

Scrolling past, I thought that was a hippo in a blue hood. Now I feel bad for laughing.

[–] Brekky@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Same, came to the comments to see if others had done the same.

I only saw hippo until I saw your comment and scrolled back up.

Except it's documented that Russia executes POWs.

Invade Russia, gather everyone in support of Putin and the Russian war in Ukraine. Nuke them all.

I just want russia to fuck back to its backward shithole, live in their own filth and violence and never come back. We won't touch russia's borders, we don't want reparations, just fuck back off to russia and nobody will bother you ever again. That's it. No nukes, no negotiations, no blackmail: never show up again and we won't either. If you don't want russians to see Ukrainians have a go at democracy, turn off your internet and turn russia into North Korea, Kim can give you some pointers on how to do that.

That's a mighty good wish that will never come true because of its internal logic.

With their culture, if left alone, something will fester and they WILL come back.

I'd rather have Russia become an actual, real democracy that controls their police apparatus and army well. It's the only way forward

Would be nice, but there is no path there right now. Every single bridge built to them was twisted and weaponized (some of it thanks to western anarchocapitalists)

PS: it took all major armies in the world to fix France and get rid of Bonapartism, it took all major armies in the world to fix Germany and get rid of nazism...but there are no resources to fix russia and putinism, especially if MAGAts and China want to use it to keep Europe in check.

Who the fuck rated euronews "Left-Center" and "High" [credibility]? They're obscure as fuck. Mostly a tracker/data broker with an AI generated "news" frontend spilling clickbait AI slop never quoting any reliable sources.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I don't think that they're obscure. If you asked me to name a major, non-state-run English-language mainland European news source, it'd be in the top three to come to my mind: Euronews, Euractiv, and EU Observer (with the last focusing on stuff in Brussels; maybe a better source for the !EuropeanFederalists@lemmy.world community).

They featured prominently on /r/Europe back when I followed it.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org -5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

"Obscure" means nebulous, not clearly visible, of unclear origin. So, if you're arguing their obscurity, who exactly are euronews? What are their sources, who are their correspondents, who's financing them, what is their business address or business model? I've wondered about that quite for a while but there's nothing to find except their data brokering service which seems good evidence that they are not what they claim to be: a news organization. So what exactly are they if not obscure?

[–] barsoap@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Let me wikipedia that for you.

"left-center" is likely to be US brainrot, though, everything left of Nixon is far-left to them.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I didn't even care about that as much as about their obscurity. But it seems people here are too damned stupid to understand what "obscure" means in case of a news outlet. Makes me wonder a lot less how people are falling for fake/manipulative news or "corporate communications".

[–] barsoap@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they're obscure. They were even broadcasting over the air back when that was still relevant.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org -2 points 1 month ago

Do you know them? Who's editor in chief? Can you answer any of the questions I'va asked above? Did you read it?

[–] SMillerNL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So, the breakdown of their ownership on the about page that links from the front page is not enough to answer some of your questions?

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 0 points 1 month ago

No, exactly that's what I mean by "obscure". An investment group is not a publisher nor a news agency, not even a media group. When it comes to publishingh that's just obscure. It's almost the definition of an obscure media outlet.
