Soooo... This all happened very last minute because her owner is a bit of an unreliable/unpredictable sort but WE HAVE A SPECIAL GUEST IN DA HOUZ (for two to maybe three weeks)

e: tagging @Bottom_racer as very important information to be informed about

Hi beautiful! You'll be okay 🩷

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

She's randomly hissed and panted at me out of nowhere twice but seems to be mostly just investigating and figuring shit out. The first night is harder now that her owner and I aren't in the same building and she can't visualise my place as an extension of her old home. It's her first time in this apartment too. But she'll settle down soon enough I think. As long as she keeps to gnawing cardboard and not my houseplants.

Planning an interstate trip to see my best mates! Super excited.

Long story but these dudes are like my ACTUAL family. I've known them over 15 years.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck! So excited!!!!!

The converse box isn't quite big enough sadly

Hey listen, when we ladies get a little bit older we may not be able to fit into things we previously could. We know. No need to shame.

She’s trying so hard!

Those are thrombolites! Ancient bacterial (?) colonies that are still alive, they turn the air and stuff into calcium deposits

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Stromatolites? Yeah, relics of the first life on earth. Or are thrombolites different from stromatolites? Never heard of thrombolites.

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrombolite
Thrombolites can be distinguished from microbialites or stromatolites by their massive size, which is characterized by macroscopic clotted fabric. Stromatolites are similar but consist of layered accretions. Thrombolites appear with random patterns that can be seen by the naked eye, while stromatolites has the texture of built-up layers.[2]

Hope none of yas have gotten caught up in that Norflands lockdown going on atm... E: which seemed to have been relatively short-lived. ~~Maybe 20 minutes.~~ I was wrong, closer to an hour, but took a bit of time to hit the news?

I've been feeding Ted downstairs for the previous 3 nights.

This is Bill waiting at the stairs.

"I have had upstairs dinner but what about downstairs dinner?"

I had a terrible nightmare last night. I accidentally bought International Roast instead of Vittoria Coffee. It was a really big tin.

Simultaneously doing a jigsaw, picking herbs, vacuuming, sanding a Freecycle mirror, brain designing paint for mirror, craving choc, putting away dishes, playing zombie phone game.... what attention span?

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Ha, this sounds like me. If I persevere the tasks get done eventually

these seagulls made me lol

each one is standing on a rock, many of the rocks are underwater making it look like the seagulls are standing on water

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wonder what would happen if a second seagull tried to stand on an already occupied rock. Would it by like when a person stands too close in your personal space and you back up and end up being walked across the room? I'm envisaging an ongoing chain reaction of seagulls moving from rock to rock to rock.

Damaging and destructive winds are coming through tomorrow arvo. It's already getting a bit windy. Batten down your hatches.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Rubbish out, vacuumed, washing is on.

Nap time lol

BummerI’m feeling really out of sorts and just wanting to isolate myself. I don’t want to reach out to my friends.

Living in this shithole is stifling. The people around me are bad news, anything I want to do is pointless or off limits and I don’t even feel comfortable going for a walk.

I have no idea how I used to be an adventurous social person

If anyone needs some self-compassion exercises link

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That link goes to a Lemmy error page, which resulted in a sensible chuckle on my behalf.

What a beautiful day, he says, as his shoulder twitches possibly leading to a migraine later lol

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Bought a pack of colesworth iced donuts. Ate one with lunch and just now ate one after dinner. Should I have a third? Umm yes i will.

I’ve hurt my shoulder again -_-

Edit: Cleaning spots on carpet (windows and wooden doors open to air out the scent) and Melbcat cheerfully walked through the wet cleaning product. She got upset when I wiped her feet.

She’s now stalking the magpies through the wire screens.
