Why do you want to inflict pain on others?
(This is the best movie I will never watch for a second time)
Try "Dear Zachary". It's the best documentary I will never watch a second time.
The rule of grave of the fireflies is that everybody has to watch it, and then everyone has to recommend it to other people, but never watch it again.
I always call it the best film I never watch again. and then I let people know that this is based on the real life of the author and intended as an apology to his little sister. Just to really rub it in.
Just like Requiem for a Dream, though that's not anime.
If you’ve got it in you, you could head on out to your nearest Asian supermarket and there’s a chance they carry the same, if not similar, tin of hard candies you can buy and cry eating.
They even sell them with Setsuko on the tin.
I've had a copy of it for about ten years now and still haven't watched it.
I plan on it, but I know enough about it that I know I have to be in just the right mood.
Me with anything tragic:
I plan on it, but I know enough about it that I know I have to be in just the right mood.
Same, I've also had it waiting on my storage drive for about a decade. My wife also said that it's good, but she will not want to see any of it again lol
I've only seen that movie once and I can't watch it again
I watched it a few years ago and all I could think of was how the kid was responsible for most of the problems he ended facing. Sad? Yes. But a "YOU are making a bad situation worse" sad, because the boy wanted to "prove" he could be an adult, despite being a 10yo with a younger sister to care.
Seriously, his aunt complained he was just hanging around, playing all day and not helping. His reaction? "You old hag, I don't need you!"
Oh she was terrible to them though.
spoiler
He didn't start to try and take care of the sister on his own until after she robbed him.
Huh, for some reason I completely missed that detail. I might need to give it a quick rewatch
This was the first anime I ever saw. I had no idea why people liked the genre after it.
I got the VhS at a goodwill.
I went through a ghibli catalog watch while travelling in Japan one time, including Hiroshima peace Park (another "do once" thing. On the flight home I watched grave of the fireflies for the first time. I do not recommend watching it on a plane in public, when most everyone is sleeping so you try (fail) to keep your ugly sobbing to yourself.
Great movie
Did someone dare you to do it?
