I'm talking about the ones that may have had only one or two seasons but you know deserve better than that.

How about none?

If I wanted to see soulless retreads of older franchises whose time and relevance has passed, then I'd watch Hollywood shit.

UY 2022, Ranma 1/2 2024, I'm looking at you.

I'm sorry everyone. I'm going to wish Berserk back again. Maybe next time it'll be good

No game no life

Charlotte. Just a reboot would be cool to see or maybe same universe different characters.

Deadman wonderland

That one... With the city and the eyes... Fuck what was it? Blood blockade battlefront! I loved the setting and world building.

Ghost Stories. Specifically the dub.

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

"A dub like that?? In this day and age? What are you r*tarded??"

I second this with Shin Chan AS dub. If only the director didn't die n a skiing accident who knows if it would have still kept going

[–] wjs018@ani.social 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I would normally remove comments using the r-word, but for those unaware, this is basically a paraphrased quote from the Ghost Stories dub that was mentioned. It was definitely a product of its time and would never be able to be made like that today.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago

It's definitely... questionable in it's content choices. I'm autistic and a member of the plus sign mafia. I'm not personally offended by any of the content, but there's definitely stuff for a wide variety of groups to get mad at. It's very 2000s. I don't know if it caused any harm, but I don't get the feeling that anyone meant for it to. Honestly, I unironically enjoy it. Maybe it's better that it's never coming back though.

Gantz. I really love that idea of the dead world on the other side of our reality.

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Deadman Wonderland. Likely a reboot more than a second season

Also a bonus; Ebichu. Please. More raunchy adult animated comedy anime please. What happened with that genre??

Two things pop into my mind at least.

  1. Tokyo ghoul. I want a FMA brotherhood reboot. They would only need to do the second season really. (I know, very original)
  2. Votoms. I just want this in some modern graphics. I feel like a reboot of this series could gain some popularity currently. Less “real robot” series more gritty military Real Robot

Man. I would love an air gear reboot. The art style and comedy alone. Its also so weirdly unique relative to all the other shows.

What's considered "older" anime?

[–] classic@fedia.io 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't think I want to see any of the answers to this question

[–] weirdbeardgame@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Me neither ... Wait.

Honestly, even though it's already a masterpiece, it would not hurt my feelings to see a reboot of Chobits.

Give me two new seasons with new art, maybe explore some more of the storyline or something.

Failing a reboot where they redo it with modern art techniques and everything, maybe there could be a parallel line, or pick up where it left off and give us one additional glorious season of Chi taking her rightful place as the persocom empress of the world or something.

[–] Unboxious@ani.social 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'd love to see more G Gundam but it's hard to imagine them actually doing that. They released a new novel though so maybe...

I just want my HG Nether Gundam kit. Is that too much to ask?! Maybe a HG Cobra Gundam too, and a RG Nobell Gundam to match RG God Gundam?

Space Brothers had the first 20 something volumes turned into a fantastic 99 episode anime, but in 2014, they caught up to the source material so stopped. It totally deserves a continuation, as there's another ~20 manga volumes out now.

Well, assuming that a modern remake or continuation can manage to recapture the magic of the original and retain its style:

Bubblegum Crisis (NOT Tokyo 2040)

Full Metal Panic. It’s one season away from being finished.

[–] Goretantath@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

It doesn't really deserve it, but I want to see infinate stratos s3

[–] JordanZ@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Serial Experiments Lain was weird enough I wouldn’t mind more.

Armitage

Somebody already mentioned it but Air Gear.

Read or Die…It had a series but I never got to watch it. I’ve only seen the OVA’s. So this is probably just a ‘I should watch that’…forgot about it.

Escaflowne - with modern animation and a full orchestra

Galaxy Express 999 & Captain Harlock

Vampire Hunter D

Big O

Escaflowne - with modern animation and a full orchestra

Much of the original soundtrack was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic, if I recall correctly, so it's already had the full orchestra treatment.

If I can choose a manga that never finished and deserves both a revival and an anime?

Zombie Powder

[–] missingno@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Akagi. Ended halfway through the Washizu arc because they caught up to the manga, now it's finally done so I'd love to see them go back and complete it.

Also from the same mangaka, Kaiji. Part 3 is the best and it's a damn shame that the anime ends right before then.

[–] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Kaiji part 3 is kinda impossible to do without part 4, not that I'm complaining. Both are phenomenal. Although weirdly part 5 is my favourite.

[–] missingno@fedia.io 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

5 is great, but honestly I thought part 4 was the weakest. Not sure what you mean by part 3 being impossible without it?

[–] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Part 3 ends and immediately follows into part 4. Their basically one continuous story that has no break in the middle.

I'd love to see Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs ride again.

Also Samurai Pizza Cats, not sure if the magic of the dub can be recaptured though.

"K-On!" sequel pls 🥺

Also, "Gangsta." did not deserve what happened to it. Same for "So I'm a Spider so What?", although it's rather recent.

And why do all the titles that come to mind have freakin punctuation in them?

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Baccano! was really good, I wish it hadn't ended where it did
