You know, it pisses me off a special kind of way to know that there is currently functionally no difference between a 15 year old stoner using ChatGPT to generate a paper and the people operating at the highest levels of global policy creating sweeping policy changes.

'Rule by Collective Unconscious' certainly feels like a new idea. If anyone is looking for a good scifi short story prompt, have at it! My only request is that you name the inevitably evil AI "Thoreaux", please. TIA

I use it to help with debugging in my IT job but it is like talking to someone who is half awake. "No, I said this is for RHEL 8, also that path doesn't exist..."

AI is going to erode so much of society.

Yeah, it's going to have to turn into a giant disaster that NOBODY can ignore before we finally decide that free-range AI is not the way to go.

Even the guy that started it all is afraid of where it's going.

And at this point, I doubt they will reach their goal of AGI. So the promised magical solutions at the end of the road to hell are likely a lie.

looking forward to it personally.

it'll get so bad that even the Nazis will look at them with disdain.

Getting caught once using AI wasn't enough. They had to do it again. Fucking dumbasses at the helm.

But AI is also making people even more intellectually lazy than they already were.

AI is not some natural disaster or alien invasion who appeared suddenly and enforcing something on people; its made by people and being used by people. People can misuse any technology in any way, they can make themselves or others smarter or more dumb. We can take any tool or technology from stick with attached stone to nuclear power and it will be people who decide how to use it, not technology deciding how to use people. Hysteria around "AI=bad" just reminds of printing press appearance when books would become more accessible which led to beliefs that people will become more stupid. Also blaming technology and not actors who misuse it such as corporations or governments makes them don't look evil and responsible for misusage. Not saying that for many autistic people AI chatbots are very helpful in daily life.

What is the obsession with autism suddenly and why do they make it sound like you'd be better off dying from a disease than being autistic?

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 hours ago

Maybe, that we're more competent than republicans?

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 7 points 4 days ago

Yay, concentration camps. Why the fuck did they drag us into this? Hmm, maybe idiots really want to get rid of anybody better than them.
