Flip it around to be a mirror image instead of photo orientation. Your brain is accustomed to seeing your own face in the mirror and corrects for the asymmetry, so it can seem exaggerated when flipped the other way in pictures.

When you see your own face in the mirror, no matter how far you are, the portion of the mirror showing your face is always half the size of your actual face.

Try it. Look at a mirror and put a ruler on the mirror, the size of your face on the mirror will always be the same, no matter how far you are. It will be half the size of your actual face.

It works because of triangles. Just start drawing some diagrams and you'll quickly figure out how on your own. Which is more fun than having someone give you a geometric proof.

Oh yeah look at that. Looks like the measurable size is slightly less than half though since the eyes are generally a little closer to the mirror than the widest part of the head

I don't like to look in the mirror when I'm tripping

Fun fact - uneven eye dilation can sometimes be a symptom of stroke or aneurysm

Shame on me, last photo of myself (for some kind of ID) needed an "improvement" by the "AI" on my phone. I looked like some kind of menacing Mafia boss. Now I look almost like a normal person.
