Monero aims to be the digital equivalent of cash. You give it to somebody and nobody except for you and the person you give it to know that that transaction occurred and how much that transaction was for.

Monero has no history associated with it, so one Monero will always equal one Monero because there's no way of telling whether that Monero was used to buy a hamburger or cocaine in the past.

It's a crypto currency used for a lot of private transactions on tor sites. In my opinion I think it's an okay thing to request but I won't be signing a petition for it. The most I'd do is upvote the request so it gets a response from Proton on the issue. The last thing I want is for them to start their own coin but will tolerate their acceptance as currency.
