Using government money to help citizens is wasteful. The money needs to go to corporations and me.

Now that it’s become a national talking point, I wish I voted differently

“I knowingly and deliberately voted to kill people but I didn’t think it would actually happen.”

These people are serial killers and should be treated as such.

It's crazy that he voted against it the first time. It floods a lot in that area. It's not the first major flood his area is experienced by a long shot.

How could a representative from a place colloquially referred to as “Flash Flood Alley” have known that it would [checks notes] flood?

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And it would flood suddenly and unexpectedly, like in a flash!

"I didn't know how important something was until it negatively affected me and people I know," Wes Virdell, probably.

Oh, did we find the magic number of deaths for TX reps to actually do something about their shit small government policies?

No. Just the magic number of child deaths to make them give a "heartfelt" statement to the press. TX republicans will wait for this to die down, look the other way, then fight every "crazy money wasting" dem that wants to actually do something about it. And all the republican voters will have long forgotten this tragedy. They'll be too busy foaming at the mouth over some other trumped up bullshit issue while someone else's kids continue to die because of the policies they continue to support.

US politician: "Communication system" suspiciously sounds like communism. I won't vote for that!

US citizens: Hurray! Fuck communication systems!

The biggest failure of the US is ultimately its educational system.

If I'd known seat belts would keep me from flying out of a car during a crash I would have worn one!
