Can we take a moment to appreciate the artwork on these posters? These artists deserve recognition.
Much more rooted in reality than Roger Corman's & Paul Bartel's other road race movie, Death Race 2000, but it's still a fun enough time. Cannonball stars many of the same people as the before-mentioned movie, plus it has bit parts for Allan Arkush, Roger Corman, Joe Dante, Sylvester Stallone and even Martin Scorsese.
Nowhere near as good as The Cannonball Run. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cannonball_Run
That movie and even the second part will forever have a place in my heart.
There was a part 3
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Zone
Speed Zone (also known as Cannonball Run III, Cannonball Fever, One for the Money and Speedzone Fever) .... The film is the third and final installment of the Cannonball Run trilogy and a sequel to The Cannonball Run (1981) and Cannonball Run II (1983)
I know. But I only saw that much later, when I wasn't an impressionable child anymore.
Wow I didn't know that existed but I've seen Death Race 2000 several times. Sounds like the same movie minus the Sci-Fi
I also recommend watching a couple documentaries on the subject, the cannonball run is a real thing and very interesting.
Was, was a real thing. It's almost impossible to pull of nowadays with the surveillance state we live in.
A guy just set a record in the last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNWmzFU8v8w
But it’s hard to beat Covid times.

Dang, even has Princess Ardala in it (forget the actress' name). She's awesome in some other comedic roles from the era, and later (80's).
