My bet is "Live Action" means either voice actors trying desperately but failing to inject life into "photo-realistic" CGI, or else the ponies get teleported to "our" world and make common cause with a gang of plucky outcasts.
My bet would be on 2, like the Sonic movies
Hasbro’s strategy to produce film and TV series based on its familiar brands include reimagining “Clue” on film and television with Sony’s TriStar and Sony Pictures Television, the live-action Dungeons & Dragons series “Forgotten Realms,” in development at Netflix, the animated “Magic: The Gathering Series” in production at Netflix, the live-action film and television “Magic: The Gathering” universe with Legendary Entertaimnent and game shows based on Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble which premiered on the CW.
Making movies and series out of old Wizards of the Coast stuff is easy. A series based on Clue, however? Unless it's a comedy game night with dramatization of the scenes, I don't see that one flying.
My bet would be on 2, like the Sonic movies
Yeah, my least favorite way to run any kind of fantastical property. It can be done well enough (Barbie and I guess the Sonic movies, though I haven't personally seen them), but it hems you in to a certain set of themes and plots, and often the budget considerations that are usually at work infect other areas of the process and production.
A series based on Clue, however?
I think the movie already showed how the tone and setting could work. Coming up with decent performances and having it play out in a way that's interesting over a season or more will be the trick. I imagine they'll try for a vibe similar to Only Murders in the Building and/or Knives Out.
Clue would be fun as a season of alternate timelines, like how the game works. There's always a high-class mid-century party where someone ends up dead. Same setting, same characters, usually the same victim... but significant variation in backstory and circumstances.
One bit that's only possible in this format is replacing an actor for an episode. Professor Plum shows up and he's looking a lot more caucasian than usual. We the audience know he's not the real guy, but the characters have the usual exchanges. 'Have you met him before?' 'No, only read his work.' You could even do a double red herring, where fake Plum did not kill Mister Boddy... because Mister Boddy is not dead. But the real Plum is.

There's a version where they get teleported to our world and are magically turned into high schoolers.
How someone greenlit the idea behind dumping the entire identity of their property for a generic teen girl cartoon, I'll never understand.

Wish they'd stop calling CGI 'live action'. Because imagine if this was actually live action for real, I might actually watch that.
i would absolutely watch it if it's just actual horses with dyed fur and no attempts to make them look like they're talking

I am amazed it took them this long to make this movie.
There is sizable built in market for this.
There was the animated movie from 8 years ago that did reasonable numbers in theaters.
We'll see how this one does.
