Virgin Atlantic initially refused to fly them back after the mid-air chaos, but later relented — reportedly taking “revenge” by sending the teens to separate cities across the US and telling their parents, some of whom are said to be sports stars, to collect them.

My kind of revenge

This is the most shocking part of this article to me. If theyre minors originally on a supervised trip, wouldnt it be like child endangerment or something to not send them back to their parents?

I'm sure these ultra rich entitled children are in so much danger. Won't somebody think of the 1%

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

You're generally allowed to fly alone as a minor once you're 15 or older.

The teenagers, believed to be from wealthy American families, were taken into custody where they had mugshots and fingerprints taken.

Lessee how entitled their parents are

[–] womjunru@lemmy.cafe 3 points 2 days ago

Rich people across the globe feel entitled.

In the US that would be a 10 year entry ban, wonder how hard the UK will slap their wrists.

Just states their travel authorizations were revoked and they were sent back, no info on long term consequences.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests, and the teenagers were warned they could face jail terms.

They have had their trip cancelled and scared enough. What do you expect to happen?

Equal treatment for Americans.

Compared to how Europeans would have been treated in the US for the same offense (automatic 10 year ban and issues on every single entry afterwards) - this is merely a slap on the wrist.

[–] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Agree, but at the same time I don't want the bad practices of the US to rub off on us.

5 year travel ban might actually sink in with these asshat kids but very doubtful. Should ban them anyhow to protect the people they will mistreat if allowed in again.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Make it 20 years.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Huge fines for their wealthy, sports-star parents?

[–] thedruid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Scared enough? These entitled kids will laugh at it, and they're mega Rick parents will pay anything needed and make it go away

These aren't normal kids.
