Travelers to the U.S. must pay a new $250 'visa integrity fee'. The fee will be at least $250, and may be reimbursable.

The Argentinian government announces privatization of water and sanitation company AySA

The headline is misleading.

  1. It's a refundable deposit
  2. It's not for all travelers but only for those on non-immigrant visas. Most notably, does not apply for ESTA travelers

You probably meant "the Art of the Deal"

You’ve said that “They could [do X], if it ends the conflict with China and prevents war”. While they aren’t the ones to fuel the conflict with China and it’s China who can prevent the war. Taiwan doesn’t want to go to war with China, so implying that they could do something to end the conflict which is one-sided is blaming them for China’s imperialistic ambitions

Blaming Taiwan for not fixing the “conflict”

[–] kebab@endlesstalk.org 1 points 13 hours ago

Oh, there’s no need for that, I got my comment removed at worldnews@lemmy.ml (why is this always ml, hmmm) after saying that Taiwan is a good functioning democracy and that they like their freedoms, so maybe China shouldn’t invade 😀

[–] kebab@endlesstalk.org 2 points 13 hours ago (5 children)

Yep. I just don’t think victim-blaming is a right thing to say in this case; it’s not Taiwan threatening China but China threatening Taiwan

[–] kebab@endlesstalk.org 1 points 15 hours ago (7 children)

China also could just stop threatening Taiwan with invasion, that would also end the conflict with China and prevent war

I’ve been to Spain and can confirm they speak Mexican there

Damn, can’t believe I’d ever say this but please don’t die within the next 3 years, Donald

If he actually dies, would JD Vance replace him? Actually, maybe then Trump’s not that bad then…

Don’t worry, now teens have TikTok which they can source their information from, so we should be safe

  • A July 9 ICE memo from acting Director Todd Lyons lets ICE deport non-citizens to third countries where they have no ties and without credible guarantees against torture or persecution.

  • In “exigent circumstances,” removals can occur in as little as six hours.

  • Under normal procedures, ICE must:

    • Provide a 24-hour removal notice in the individual’s language.
    • Specify the intended third country.
    • Wait at least one day before deportation.
  • If a destination country provides “credible” diplomatic assurances against torture, ICE may bypass all other safeguards.

  • Critics say the policy violates statutory and constitutional protections, relies on secret assurances, and leaves migrants too little time to find counsel.

  • The administration claims it has negotiated multiple “safe third country” agreements to speed up removals of criminal aliens.
