/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Trek is dead. It's legacy will be what it inspires in us.

You're just getting worried now?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Maybe that's why they made the Section 31 movie.

[–] StarryPhoenix97@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

Download and hoard what you can. Especially the discovery era. It's not everyone's trek but it IS the most inclusive trek.

[–] Teal@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 hours ago

Bazminti when he pulled back the veil. The beast at Tanagra.

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

Trump, his member small

[–] Sculptor9157@sh.itjust.works 8 points 19 hours ago

I'm not particularly sad that Colbert is canceled as he really grated on me during the pandemic series with the incredible sense of requiring attention, to the point his wife was involved as an audience. The reason for canceling him, however, is definitely a bullshit excuse for bending over to pay the Taco Tax.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you can't tell me that the cancelation isn't related to the $16m payout to Trump and the Paramount sale.

I just hope the next 10 months Colbert goes hard on Trump.

Pull a Mon Mothma and make them want to kill the transmission mid-show.

Paramount when it spreads the cheeks

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 12 hours ago

That's not a knee...

I think we have a lot more to worry about when our government can elicit bribes in the form of censorship.

But this particular instance won’t affect Trek but capitalism ruins everything, eventually.

[–] sirblastalot@ttrpg.network 1 points 7 hours ago

The bribe was the settlement payout. The censorship is just a bonus.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 12 hours ago

If anything, it could greatly help combat censorism.

Let's see how brave Colbert is.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Capitalism has already ruined trek like 4 times.

[–] marlowe221@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

This right here

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

"Elicit," but your word is pretty accurate too!

I kinda wish that I still had a Paramount+ subscription to cancel over this, but I think my previous reason for cancelling, that it sucks ass, is still valid too

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But it’s a mountain of entertainment!

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's a mountain of something alright

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

I’m still mad that they weren’t content with making a new and bad Star Trek show but tried to retroactively drag TNG into the abyss

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

Honestly? Mediocrity. It had maybe two things. I just waited for the dvds to drop and borrowed ST from the library.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)

America, when it voted for its own ruin.

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

The Capitol, when its walls fell

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Uncle Sam, his foot shattered, his gun smoking.

Gotta be more metaphorical.

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

look buddy do you want the bell riots to happen as prophesized or not

Voted for freedom, but wants to take away everyone else's freedoms instead

[–] galoisghost@aussie.zone 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe now we’ll get Captain Seven of Nine just that now she will rejoin the Borg and the show will explain how good it is to be Borg

[–] thehowlingnorth@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Hey, the Ferengi might just have the right idea!"

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I'm not a Paramount subscriber but was thinking of getting it to watch Picard. Now I'll just wait til there's a free 30-day trial, or til they put it on Netflix or whatever.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 9 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Picard plots were pretty weak.

But strange new worlds is really really good. The plot, the acting, photography, direction, everything. They even had a crossover with lower decks which is another series, they're hilarious!

[–] GreatAlbatross@feddit.uk 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

PP is basically the Strange New Worlds app for me now.
Sub for a month, whenever the new SNW series is almost finished.

[–] BaldManGoomba@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Don't have to stress about high seas if you have a browser and an ad block sail the Grey seas and check out the streaming other sites.

[–] aramova 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sail the high seas my friend. Yarrr

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Too much trouble, I'm in no hurry.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

In an ideal future, Paramount goes under, sells the IP to someone who actually cares about it. Can't say it's likely, but one can dream.

[–] hypeerror@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I just watched strange new worlds season 1 and was about to pull the trigger on paramount+. Not going to happen now.

[–] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

Yohoho, you could still watch it

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Aeron, his head shaking in disapproval.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 11 points 1 day ago

Murrow, his heart breaks.

Good night, and good luck.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Stewart and Colbert,
together where the rivers join.

As apes together strong,
before the reptile house.
