Do kilt-wearing countries measure wind speed with imperial units?

[–] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 43 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Scotland do. I don't know many other places where kilts are traditionally worn.

Ireland is the other. Then less traditionally in Brittany, Cornwall, Wales and Spain.

The Republic of Ireland messure distance in Km. But time runs slower here so that may throw the maths off.

In Spain where Basque country (País Basco)?

What math? "What's higher than 25?"

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I guess 'at the typical weight and surface area of a kilt, what is the minimum wind speed to lift it?'

That's not math, that's fluid dynamics, and that's witchcraft.

[–] WR5@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's all math, you can't escape. Even witchcraft is math!

Even maths is maths. It's maths all the way down!

Well until you get to the turtles...

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

turtles are math

Nah, that's just a mix of baking, mixology, and fashion.

[–] WR5@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Unfortunately those are all math too: Thermal conduction, ratios, and geometric patterns! We can't escape the mathrix.

Km/h maybe?

Can short-legged people still skip the underwear at 26mph?

[–] xia@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 1 month ago

Your honor, my EDC belt-clippable anemometer measured the wind-speed at a mere 24.9 mph.

Unfortunately, I've just come down from the isle of Skye
