I think there's some tagging that they can spot paint. power wash a few corners. but it's safe in SF.
San Francisco
I visited recently and was told by several people not to go near some central plaza (I don't recall the name) because it was dangerous. Was I misinformed?
Not having visited that area, the rest of the city felt safe and was clean.
It was probably UN plaza in Civic center area. It's not dangerous, but there are homeless that can hang out around there, especially in front of the library, which can feel scary for some people if they've never seen that.
Honestly, they've made a lot of changes to that plaza over the past couple years, so there's a lot more outdoor zumba and planned outdoor activities now. I'd still bet money that you'd see someone that looks high/impoverished/homeless in the area, but it's not dangerous to be there. They may panhandle you, but it would make the news if someone was attacked or robbed.
I hope they're bringing mops and brooms, because it's not crime they'll be cleaning up. (Not insinuating that the city is dirty, either, just my thoughts on cleaning!)
Yeah those 35 murders over a year's course sure is big when compared to, you know, all the red states (aka the shit holes)
