What happens is you're part of the privileged group until fascism has consumed the previous unprivileged group, then has to identify a new unprivileged group in order to keep the whole charade going, to keep people believing that the fascists are providing order and safety. Suddenly you become an other, a target, and you're not safe anymore.
Many people don't recognize this cycle happening until they end up on the wrong side of it.

Too many YouTubers are exactly this. Talking about supporting Bernie Sanders and feminism, then criticizing people being happy Charlie Kirk is dead while ignoring the things he actually did and staying quiet about all the shit the oppressors have been doing constantly (shoeonhead for example).
"But I'm friends with them" they say, as if that implies they're nice people.
Yet, it's those groups who have the biggest influence I'd say because they're so confident they won't be affected themselves later down the road.
That is because Youtubers are literally dependend on one of the biggest players on the american capitalist market. They thus have follow the rules and many do not want to risk their livelyhoods. Taking some superficial education from YouTube is great but it should be a starting point for finding good books about the topics. After all YouTube is first and foremost a source of entertainment.

Black people coined the word "woke" in the 70s. It means "aware of systemic oppression". But the "wider public" steals a word and ruins it, just like in 1984, for the explicit purpose of making it difficult to talk about oppression.
People don't get offended by ordinary words. Nazis gain power by spreading hate. They then turn around and prevent everyone else from being able to speak at all. If you haven't figured that out by seeing it happen, I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Black American folk singer-songwriter Huddie Ledbetter, a.k.a. Yeah im seeing it every day. I think its bigger than just nazis spreading hate. They have always done that and its not been affecting society. The problem is social media and how peoples opinions are directly formed by the algorithms these days. They are inside complete perception bubbles and want to be protected from seeing outside of it.

Yeah, people's opinions are formed by algorithms.... Who controls the algorithms? Musk, Zuckerberg, and other right wing billionaires. Facebook turned Boomers and GenX whites into MAGA because the algorithm is controlled by Nazis spreading hate. Every traditional media and social media platform pushes right wing content disproportionately.

This is the culmination of a conservative project that's been working on earnest since Reagan. During the Red Scare they fired everyone Left of Eisenhower as a "communist". Then the Lavender Scare they fired all the gay people. The FBI murdered Black Leftists during COINTELPRO. Reagan broke unions in the 80s, and the Federalist Society started taking over the judiciary. Congress used 9/11 as a convenient excuse to pass the Patriot Act and militarize the police. The Tea Party replaced the Republican party with a fascist death cult in the '10s and now we're here.
They haven't really even tried to keep it a secret and activists have been trying to warn you all along. But the Nazis told you we were overreacting, and that "not letting them share their opinion (that certain people should be killed)" was "cancel culture", so you ignored us until the fascism started affecting you.
The algoritms will show more of what people spend time looking at, and it will try to serve you content it thinks will make you stay on the platform as long as possible.
Well yeah, I think fascism has not been so visible before Trump, Musk and social media reinforcing their kind of behavior as ok. I think in general, people are rude and hostile online today. I was driving with a friend the other day when went through a 20mph zone, not unusual around us. He described it as a "Woke speed limit".
I think we can therefore say that the word means nothing any more other than "thing I disagree with"
I'm a woke urbanist and I think speed limits are good, but traffic calming is better. The design of the street should make you feel faster, so you drive slower. Narrow streets, tall objects near the street, rumble strips, and chicanes can all slow down traffic by making drivers feel unsafe when they speed.
Slower cars make less noise and run over fewer children. And I hate it when the city is loud because of all the cars. I don't like dead kids either, but that's secondary to me.

As someone who was raised among maga pale skins, this is soooo true. Those brainwashed dummies were partying in the suburbs for the 4th of july, while gestapo ICE was kidnapping people from my city. Fucking gross.
I find your usage of "maga" interesting (in a non judgmental analytical sense). The term "maga" is much less than a decade old. Is it commonly used retrospectively for the roots of the movement (which certainly existed decades ago)?

Conservatism loves hierarchies. There's a strong belief that people are where they're meant to be in that hierarchy. They freely acknowledge that the hierarchy exists, but they insist it's actually a meritocracy. This explains why the most conservative people are the ones who happen to find themselves at the top of that hierarchy. Conservatism lets them believe that they're there because that's how things are supposed to be.
Fascism is all about actively enforcing that hierarchy. With regular conservatism it's enough to keep people down by putting obstacles in their way. For example, there's no rule about hiring a woman, but the hiring decisions are all made by straight, white, christian men, and they just happen to see other straight, white, christian men as the most qualified. Think Mad Men. The best thing about that system is that, according to the laws and rules, it's "fair". There are no hiring quotas, no preferential treatment, the rules say everybody has the same chance. It's just that in practice the people getting hired and promoted happen to look like the people hiring and promoting them.
Progressives then make rules trying to get rid of this bias. Because white, male, christian men can't be trusted to pick the best people and instead keep picking their buddies and people who look like them, rules are put in place to make sure other people get a shot. If you believe that the hierarchy that exists is right and natural, this feels like an attack. It feels like they're forcing hiring managers to hire unqualified people and take the jobs from the people who deserve them. So, they go fascist.
Fascism is basically a way to enforce the "natural" hierarchy. Now, instead of relying on a "fair" system where those at the top of the hierarchy were given a free choice and expected to choose people who looked like them. Now, the choice is removed. So, the state ensures that everything is returned to "normal" and "traditional" values are upheld.
