Will be much missed. One of the world's greatest people imo.

I received a Jane Goodall diorama as a Lego Gift-With-Purchase.

I recently donated it (including the Jane Goodall minifig) to a Primary School Science teacher for her classroom.

I hope none of the little perishers steal the minifig!

If you (or anyone else) haven’t read it, In the Shadow of Man is a fantastic book

spag bog is nearly ready , 🀀

I better put a white shirt on.

[–] Orange1@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm glad it's not just my family. Whenever I said to friends spag bog, they would be like do you mean spag bol?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

LOL, what is the point of slang if it isn't rude

Okkk scored a "wellbeing day" tomorrow (not sick or annual, six per year), so long weekend starts now. Extra bonus it's on my late shift week! Back to normal next week after a good rest. Now beer! 🍻🍻🍻

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Excellent! Make sure you start off the cheers thread tomorrow. 🍻

Meetup last night was good, and so I will be going to another one. Most people I spoke to were really nice and welcoming! I don't think I'll make any friends out of it, but it was nice to play fun games with friendly people :)

Ah back at FILs for the next couple of days, and then back to Melbourne Sunday night.

Niece was very unhappy we were leaving her place, but we'll see them again before we go home.

Looking forward to picking Mickey up on Monday morning. Then I have an interview at 10-10:30am, and then my job provider appointment at 11:30am. I'm going to be wrecked, but happy πŸ’œ

Be honest, how many of your dinner foods are just an excuse for melted cheese?

[–] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I have to be honest here. None. Not really. I'd rather have cheese in it's unmelted state. And I go through phases where I can't stand any cheese, and other times I can't get enough of it. Phases can last from a few days to a few months. Currently going through an anti-cheese phase. This will change, I just don't know when. And then I'll consume cheese in any form that presents itself. But I prefer non-melted.

Tonight's meal calls for a generous helping of melted cheese, sometimes I construct what I eat around it including cheese.

Called in sick. Eating peanut butter toast in bed before having a hot shower and rolling my back out with the foam roller

Anyone got advice for dealing with oxalis at the base of young lily pily hedge? People have suggested using a paint brush with poison to just contact the oxalis and other plants should be fine?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

You have come to the right place.

There is an expert here.

PSA. Aldi's Buffalo bites (found in the freezer next to the nuggets) are very tasty. Pair them with a G&T and you now have a gourmet meal. Get on it. 5/5 yum yums.

I’m going to venture in search of lunch. A little air, before I return to snuggling the wheatbag

Doing housework today. Turning the place from a seedy nightclub into a respectable home before the fuzz gets here. Google Home may have allegedly overhead some unsavoury content.

Night night

[–] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

Our dog is a bit fussy with food and toys. He will only play with some of his toys if a relative's dog is, where he tries to take them off her and run away.

We give our dog his worming tablets once a month. Last month, he ate the tablet without it being shrouded in another food. Today, he was more reluctant to do that, but was told, "Relative's dog name is coming to eat your treat," and he gobbled it up.

That phrase has been working for his dry food, and the treats to help his dental hygiene too :)

I'm listening to Spare, the book by Harry whatsisname

he sounds like someone who has joined a cult, who has been told their family is awful and don't love him, who has had his past rewritten to make it nothing but bad up til the moment he met his saviour and he has learned helplessness.

he was also a bit of dick growing up

it's a good warning, don't marry narcissists like meghan

i would really like to know how he thought about himself and his life before he met her

the book sucks except as an example of what not to do, I can only observe the events described , I find it hard to care or get involved

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

I've never read it but this has always been my thought. Harry has been told his whole life he must wear red socks on Wednesdays. Meghan tells him he's an adult now and he can choose whatever coloured socks he wants. Harry thinks about it and agrees but up until that point every part of his life has been micromanaged by people who "know better" than him.

I'd run away too.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It honestly seems like the happiest he has ever been was in the army.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I think so too.

There were set rules, no one in his unit was out to get him, he learnt skills, he was treated as his own person, he had a purpose bigger than himself.

My arms are a bit sore today after all the lugging around of mulch I've been doing. I have managed to get all the tape off the rest of the cardboard boxes so I'm ready to put the next lot of mulch down as soon as I have aquired it. I've also put together the mini-greenhouse I'll be using to start some seedlings in. I put a heavy container of water on the bottom shelf and it hasn't blown away yet, so I think that's a good sign.

I got a small grocery order delivered this morning, I think there were more items substituted than not, but fortunately they are all good substitutions. Now that I have more eggs I'm going to do a batch of breakfast muffins - I even bought some egg rings so I can keep the eggs the right size/shape.

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

My local banh mi place has Viet donuts and I've been buying them recently with my usual roll purchase to enjoy with an afternoon cuppa. Why is deep fried dough so tasty?

Commbank down while trying to pay for groceries. Yay.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

slept well but still a little tired

Should I sleep some more? Maybe a little while it's still peaceful.
