Trump and Hegseth's people are really endearing themselves to the military. I do hope this ends badly for them.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 days ago

Narrator: But it didn't. They gutted all agencies and replaced them with loyalists.

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 48 points 3 days ago (3 children)

... NDAs? What in the fox news pundit hellhole do they think they're doing? These generals swore an oath to the constitution - I think they take that more seriously than some worthless rag that says "dont tattle on hegseth"

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 36 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It makes more sense when you remember all these people come from a corporate environment who think in terms of NDAs for protecting secrets.

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 3 days ago

Oh I know. I just can't fathom the fact that hegseth is just so, so incompetent that he thinks an NDA is an actual tool in this circumstance

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

It makes more sense, sure. Is less cringe worthy and pathetic, absolutely not.

[–] teft@piefed.social 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I bet they want a financial penalty for anyone who leaks something they don't like.

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah except a contract like an NDA has to have consideration for both parties.

“Sign this NDA, and your consideration is that we won’t toss you out on your ass with a less-than-honorable discharge.”

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Like, they know there's something called the Uniform Code of Military Justice right?

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Honestly I don't think Hegseth does know that. He isn't exactly a very deep fellow. He got his fame by defrauding multiple 501C4 corporations

He’s a former Major in the Army National Guard. I can guarantee he knows what the UCMJ is; He just doesn’t care.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

He's a former army national guard officer. I'm sure he knows.

Anyone that has any kind of security clearance already has an NDA. It's the SF312 form that everyone has to sign.

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Aren’t those shit and don’t really work?

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

They work 50% of the time.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The theme of this regime has been vandalism.

Now they'll inflict maximal damage on esprit de corps.

It'll take decades to fix everything that Trump has smashed.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 10 points 3 days ago

And there's no way to go back to "the way it was before." There will be revolution. The only questions are when and what it's going to look like on the other side.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 16 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"Do you support president Trump and the values of Trump's administration?"

And the ugly axe starts swinging.

There were enough pins and stripes in that room to understand 'divide and conquer' strategy.

So what's it going to be? Stand up for the Constitution or bend over?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

If the generals were to uphold their real oaths, asking that question would by itself justify and necessitate a military coup.

Narrator: They bent over.

[–] teft@piefed.social 15 points 3 days ago

I'm sure it's a good idea to fire a bunch of battle hardened generals due to loyalty tests. That can't possibly come back to bite the ~~fascists~~ government in the ass. /s

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 days ago

Typical. Bunch of failures at the top. Better check all the people who get the actual work done.

If any of these soldiers feel backed into a corner

They can always find the Dorner. 🎶

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When you allow conservatives to win, you get fascism.

Pretty clear indicator that you should do whatever the fuck is most likely to keep conservatives from winning. That includes not voting for some random 3rd party candidate that can't win or not voting at all. We fucked around with that bullshit last November. Now we have fascism.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Do you have any evidence to support this assertion?

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)
[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So no. It’s just bullshit. No evidence third parties split the vote.

If liberal democrats spent a tenth of the energy they waste blaming progressives for their own failures attacking republicans instead, we wouldn’t be in this situation.

You got Hilary. You got Biden. You got Biden again. You got Harris. What more do you want?

Polls show progressive policies have broad support. Liberal democrats poll at historic lows.

And the liberal democrats in office are rubber-stamping fascism.

You’re the problem.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

No evidence third parties split the vote.

I mean, are you stupid? If someone is voting 3rd party then they aren't voting for one of the primary parties. That's a vote closer to fascism in the case of the 2024 election. This isn't complicated. You don't need a source. The source is common sense, which you appear to lack.

If you're speaking of the 2024 election specifically, I don't fucking care if 3rd party voting dipshits made the difference or not. They didn't know whether they were going to make the difference or not when they voted for a candidate who could not, under any circumstances, win. No intelligent person fucks around with a 3rd party while a fascist party is clearly stating they will behave as a fascist government if they win. Only braindead dumbfucks do that.

And if there's any confusion about a 3rd party candidate winning a presidential election, take into account that in the 2024 election, the 3rd party candidate with the most votes was magician Jill Stein, who magically appears before every election, loses, then magically disappears again, and she got a whopping half of a single percent of the total votes cast, proving that there is no reality in which a 3rd party candidate has a chance in hell of winning.

If liberal democrats spent a tenth of the energy they waste blaming progressives

So we should just ignore the epic dipshits who blew their vote on a candidate who can't win, and thus can't do anything at all for them, while a fascist party was being open about what they would do if they were elected and THAT IS NOW HAPPENING? Nah dawg. I'm not going to let that go. These fucking idiots should be shamed. If your brain isn't functional enough to grasp that this nation is nowhere near a viable 3rd party and that the most intelligent thing to do until a 3rd party gets off its fucking ass and becomes viable by doing the work necessary, is to vote for one of the two parties that can win, preferably the one that ISN'T OPENLY FASCIST, and aligns closest to your ideals, then you need to seek help getting a better education to develop your critical thinking skills.

Do these losers think you can just magically make a 3rd party candidate president without that party building a base and becoming nationally popular by winning local/state elections and getting ANY AT ALL representatives in the House and Senate? Like I said. Braindead.

You got Hilary. You got Biden. You got Biden again. You got Harris. What more do you want?

I want dipshits to develop and use critical thinking skills so we don't elect FUCKING FASCISTS and LOSE OUR DEMOCRACY.

We are literally living the repercussion of fucking idiots blowing votes on 3rd parties or not voting at all and you're sitting here defending that shit?

I'll ask again.

Are you fucking stupid?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

Motherfucking reality.

They're going to ask about the fascist speeches they cringed through aren't they? Instead of a new loyalty pledge, they'll just eliminate anyone who wasn't enthusiastic about the insanity or who agrees that diversity is good and going to war with American civilians is bad.
