I thought people were hyperbolic about how good Succession is, but I'm on episode 5 of the first season and I am HOOKED. I really hope it stays consistent throughout the entire series.

Task
It just gets better and better with each episode. The only bummer is, it is only seven episodes long…
Andor
I have just watched the final episode and man it breaks my heart. It is the most fun I have had watching a Star Wars product since 1980.
Other than that I am in a serious show-hole. I am struggling to find things to watch, hopefully this thread will provide some ideas.
The lowdown.
I just started Slow Horses, and have been really enjoying it. Gary Oldman is excellent as always.
Easily one of the best multi season shows currently on TV.
Not trying to oversell it, but there's a reason why it's won so many awards.
Wednesday and Only Murders in the Building
Other than that, it's October. So I'm watching horrorish movies. Started with 28 Weeks Later.
I stopped watching Only Murders at the start of season four, I think I got as far as S04E02.
Nothing major made me lose interest, it just sort of waned after binging the first three seasons.
How did you feel about season 4? Are you enjoying season 5?
I couldn't get it into Wednesday season two when it first released, but I love season one, so I'll probably get around to it one of these days.
Very interesting. My wife and I started season 5 and realized we never watched the last 2 episodes of season 4. So, we're right there with you on it.
Season 5 is about the same. It's an easy show to watch, and it's nice that they're 30 minutes. They're all charming. But a lot of the later episodes have been forgettable.
Minor spoilers for Only Murders (not spoiling plot points and not including Season 5)
Season 4 was pretty bad IMO, probably the worst of all. There were far too many characters and that threw the mystery/drama balance out. Based on how Season 5 is setup, I'm hopeful they'll have seen the reactions online (this was a very common complaint) and have simplified the show again so it has a better chance of recapturing that magic from earlier seasons. I also think part of the problem is that its parody of true crime podcasts has become less funny and relevant as it has continued through the seasons.
Alien Earth.
Not gonna lie, it started out strong, but completely flopped its landing on the season finale.
However, it was obviously written to be a multi-season show.
The world building, cinematography, set design, and acting, were all phenomenal.
This show does deserve much of its criticism, but it's still worth the watch, especially if you like science fiction.
Wait that was the season finale?? Agreed it flopped the landing.
I understand that the major storylines were too big to be wrapped up in an episode. But there wasn't a single subplot that they finished either, just baffling.
And given the choice to leave everything still open, I'm even more perplexed as to why they decided to expedite and amplify one of the character's "abilities".
That particular decision reminded me of Game of Thrones S08: I have no problem with where they ended up, but a huge problem with how they got there.
I don't want to say anything else to avoid spoiling it for others, but I'm sure you know who and what I'm talking about.
Alien Earth S1 Spoilers
The abilities for Wendy are a bit much. Super strength, hacking with her mind, and controlling the Aliens is just too over powered. On top of that, she has plot armor, so it's hard to see any situation she'd be in that would be concerning.
I feel like the ability to hack into everything with her mind could have been dropped and nothing really lost. I can see where they're going with her being like a mother to the aliens, while also being an eternal child, and that is an interesting plot, but would have really liked to see something more come from that dynamic this season.
I'll watch S02 but was hoping something/anything would have been resolved after 8 episodes
The weighted order of my personal levels of disapproval for each those issues may vary slightly from yours, but yes, I agree lol.
I'm not sure it's even been greenlit for season 2, but I do hope it gets renewed.
Spoilers for Alien: Earth
The problem was not so much the abilities themselves, it was the fact that they were acknowledged by other people earlier in the show and yet no one seemed to remember this when deciding to lock her in a cell or fight her. The show is full of inconsistent, lazy writing like this.
The lowdown:
I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this one. Imho it's the best new show to come out in a while. It's a detective/noir show. Made by the same dude who did "reservation dogs". Definitely inspired by some old school hardboiled detective stories.
10/10 watch this.
I've also been watching the first couple episodes of this seasons slow horses. Entertaining as ever.
Just started watching this.
Haven't quite finished S01E01 yet, but I was hooked even before I even saw Killer Mike rocking an eye patch that matched his tacky ass oversized shirt.
This is on my list to start in a week or so once a few more episodes are out, I've heard nothing but great things.
I finished The Family Next Door. Very enjoyable slow-paced mystery/drama series, I'd definitely recommend it (it can be found online if you are outside of Australia).
I've started watching The Girlfriend this week and kind of regret it so far. It's slop, and it's very obviously trying to appeal to horny, brainrotted millienials and Gen Z viewers with terrible attention spans. There is a lot of sex/nudity and it does that incredibly annoying thing of starting each episode with the cliffhanger, then rewinding, because it thinks its viewers are too impatient to make it through the rest of the episode without knowing what's coming. After the first episode it even did a "this season on The Girlfriend" trailer, which basically showed all the major plot points of the show as some kind of engagement bait tactic. I also think it's targeted a lot more towards women than men. I feel like this sort of horny, eat-the-rich, women gossiping and fucking over each other sub-genre is very popular with young women right now.
However, the acting is pretty good and I know Olivia Cooke has big potential to go absolutely psycho at some point, which is probably what's keeping me around. If anyone has seen The Road Trip, Laurie Davidson is basically playing an identical character here which makes him incredibly annoying. Being this annoying is a talent though, so respect to him!
