The messages, casually exchanged last weekend in a crowded, public space, show high-level officials in the Trump administration discussing the deployment of the Army’s 82nd Airborne, an infantry division that has been parachuted into combat zones in both world wars, Vietnam and Afghanistan. If the administration were to send in the Army division, it would almost certainly be challenged in court under federal laws limiting how the military can be used domestically.

There is also an editor's note — apparently deputy Homeland Security adviser Salisbury decided to use Signal to exchange information about this while attending a funeral in Minnesota.

Are they going to parachute in so they can zip-tie naked children and disappear them in U-hauls? And maybe pick up trash after that in between standing around looking at their phones?

Why is there all the money in the fucking world for stupid shit like this but we still don't have single payer? Cheap/free college? Affordable housing? Clean air and clean water? It's fucking outrageous how stupid 1/3 of this country is. They'd literally cut their own balls off if they thought Taco endorsed it and it would make a liberal cry. It's just that hateful and stupid. Taco could get them some cool black Nikes, too, and a special cocktail so they could ride on a comet to own the libs and I am sure a non-zero amount of them would absolutely do it...

Because if you good things for people, somebody with dark skin or who prays the wrong way might be better off, instead of all the money ending up in billionaires' pockets.

Yeah, there is actually something called "last place aversion" that does explain people doing things constantly to punch themselves in the groin.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/occupy-wall-street-psychology/

We’ve also found evidence of last place aversion in laboratory experiments. In one, we created an artificial income distribution by endowing individuals with different sums of money and showing them their “rank”– with each rank separated by $1. We then gave them an additional $2, which they had to give to either the person directly below or directly above them in the distribution. In this income distribution, of course, giving $2 to the person below you means he will jump ahead of you in rank. In our experiments, most people still give to the person below them – after all, the alternative is to give $2 to a person who already has more money than you. People in second-to-last place, however, who would fall to last place when giving the money to the person below them, are the least likely to do so: so strong is their desire to avoid last place that they choose to give the money to a wealthier person (the person above them) nearly half the time. If Americans behave like people in our experiments, then it could be challenging to unite those in the bottom of the income distribution to support redistribution.

Lyndon Johnson said it quite well:

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

I bet our legit military personnel are getting so sick on this bullshit. I could see it in Trump's little military birthday parade and in Pete's pep-talk.

Also Nat guard are probably getting pissy. Most of them have jobs and proper responsibilities, imagine how fucking annoyed they may get when they get stupidly deployed for no reason when they just want benefits while doing the occasional disaster relief.

Totally unrelated, but this is a solid deal on the most modern (2010 revision) NATO armor-piercing ammo.

How unbelievably embarrassing for anybody with a soul who is involved.
