- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Project Zomboid: Contains subtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. The Sexy Time and Bedroom Zed events have a 1 in 7 chance of featuring two same sex zombies.
The amount of time and effort it takes to find something like that. Weirdly obsessive over LGBTQ stuff.
Just checked Outer Wilds, which is deemed „slighly woke“ because the race of aliens to which you belong all use they/them pronouns. They do note that the race of aliens you‘re studying all use he/him/she/her pronouns.
Here‘s the thing - your race has evolved from amphibians. Hermaphroditism and spontaneous sex-change is a well-established trait in some species of amphibians. The other race are mammals, where such examples are much rarer.
For it to actually be a „woke“ thing, rather than world-building, you‘d have to have one of the mammals be referred to as „they“. Or, perhaps, one of your race referred to as „he“ or „she“. As it is, it suggests that gender is either non-existent or fluid amongst your species and therefore it makes no sense to use that as an identifier, and gender exists amongst the other species and therefore it does make sense to use that as an identifier.
And, truthfully, we don‘t know, because other than a couple of references to people „flirting“ with each other (in both species) and you being referred to as „hatchling“ rather than being given a name, sex gender, reproduction, etc. doesn‘t come up at all.

Wow this was incredible. I saved the whole page of my games so I can look back at the absurdity. One of my personal favorites:

Practically the only games I’ve played that aren’t woke are Frostpunk - the child slavery simulator. And Overlord, a game where you are literally the villain and command a slave army of gremlins. We live in the satire reality.

It’s the accessibility that is considered woke. The tricky part of DEI is that it’s actually DEIA, but that last letter is conveniently never listed when they’re talking about eliminating it. Because they know their conservative voting base is aging, and will increasingly need accessibility features.
Just wanted to point out the Metal Slug section of the list. It's woke because the frontline soldiers are women.

This list is hilarious. It's so inconsistent. Assassin's Creed is woke because of a line in the fucking start screen of the game. Most games I love are woke according to them. What a sad existence must these people have when they cannot play all these great games. Cyberpunk? Woke! Satisfactory? Woke! Hades? Woke! Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor? Both woke! Celeste? Extremely Woke!
They should make a second meme page for it that changes woke to based and reverses the colours while keeping the comments intact.
To be fair Hades is pretty gay. Some of THW classifications are ridiculous but I agree with calling hades woke. Well or based I like that more.

Looked up my list and it’s really curious to see the ratings for my favorite games. Some games were marked “woke” for things I absolutely wouldn’t have thought of, while in other games I think some of the messaging flew over their heads.
Woke: Counterstrike, because there are female skins
Not Woke: FTL, where the main goal is to defeat an organization of violent racist facists.

Wonderful woke games in my library: cyberpunk (because it encourages body modification hahahahahaha), dark souls 3 (the reversal ring, can't make this shit up), Gary's mod (kinda fair actually, I've heard alot of homosexual kissing in dark rp. Not that ice ever done that, for sure not, nope.) The binding of Isaac (Its one of the best games of all time what the fuck are these idiots talking about) among us (AMOGUS) halo infinity (features female front line combatants.....) war thunder (because a single tank has a skin with anime women on it. Like what, how the fucknis that woke? You idiots don't even know your own rules.) Hiveswap (gimme my fucking quadrant relationships you ducking weirdos) home front the revolution (features a black female engineer. Like, I couldnt possibly come up with anything more cartoonishly racist if I tried.) And last but not least, runescape (fair, actually, its why I still occasionally come back, gotta grind forever.)

Slay The Spire dodged the woke allegations? Two of the four playable characters, including the objectively strongest one are women. One of the remaining two is... Well, i want to say non-binary but the character is very much binary lmao.

I love Woke Content Detector. It's sold me on a whole bunch of games over the last few months. I would never have stumbled upon Kitsune Tails without their recommendation. :)

My game isn't done yet, but uuh how do I apply to be on the woke list?
Looking through the list it seems that adding optional they/them pronouns for the player character is enough.
Add a checkbox that's labeled woke mode, but never explain what it actually does.
you have to enable it to play the game, otherwise your character just keeps sleeping and the game never starts

Indie game blobun did basically that. Unwoke gamers could disable lesbians from an option in the menu. Selecting this removed the main character, who is canonically lesbian, from the game leaving it unplayable.

Those chucklefuck lunatic reactionaries abuse the word "woke" so much in their blind hatred that it is indeed a cliche.
I thought it'd be fun to check the Assassin's Creed games. All super woke for about as absurd reasons as you can imagine. My favorite one though was Assassin's Creed Black Flag which is woke apparently because it shows Mary Reed engaging in crossdressing. Which is funny because if you go to the Wikipedia page for Mary Reed you'll see an 18th century wood engraving of her dressed in men's clothing.
