The left doesn't have any power in the US. The ruling party is literally fascist and the "opposition" party is right wing to far right.
The closest thing to an influential Left wing presence in Washington is a dozen or so center-left politicians being treated as deranged and dangerous communist revolutionaries by the leaders of both parties as well as all mainstream media outlets.
