For context, there are just over 500 commercial airports in the US.

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 28 points 6 hours ago

What the actual fuck man. We are turning into north Korea. Love the state obey the state praise supreme leader

telling travelers “Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal government” and claiming that is why “most of our TSA employees are working without pay.”

Honestly the TSA shouldn’t exist, it’s a graft and corruption scheme created by the Bush Jr administration so guys like Michael Chertoff could steal taxpayer money.

They can’t even perform their stated functions, there have been numerous instances of them failing to detect firearms and bomb parts during tests, they fail the majority by a wide margin.

It’s a “make-work” program. Those people should be building hospitals in rural communities, fixing roads and bridges. At least that would have a return on investment.

Same with ICE, and the entire DHS, frankly.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

The day I saw you could pay to get expressed through the TSA lines was the day it became 100% apparent it was nothing more than a grifting scheme.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 37 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Well as long as its at least 7.

My only solace is that the boomers waited till they were so fucking old to try to stop the world from changing through fascism.

Hitler shot himself at 56 and had spent a lot of his 30-40s trying to gain power. A lot of the current generation of fascists are a light jog away or botched botox from their death. But fuck this.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 19 points 7 hours ago

This is the part that burns me the most. All this, for a handful of years to sit atop the ashes.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 33 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

this should really fall on the courts to enforce the hatch act & give laws governing officials more teeth.. this is insane 1984 level shit

[–] derpgon@programming.dev 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You mean the courts controlled by Reps?

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

Courts shouldn't be political. The status is not quo.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 22 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

How many laws do they need to break in order for something to actually be done? They are clearly mentally ill and none of them are based in reality, so we need to get them out of office.

None of this is ok and none of this is normal.

[–] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 5 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

They are not mentally ill, they would gladly twist a toddler's neck for a couple bucks. And that's been rewarded in America for centuries.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

That is a mental illness. These people have a serious hoarding disorder, and they can't stop accumulating money. They have enough money that neither they, nor their descendants for the next century could possibly spend it all, and yet they will still walk through fire, or hire someone else to, to get even more.

If those people hoarded cats, or rusty cars, or newspapers, or general junk, we would get mental health care for them, and dismantle their collection. Psychopathic Oligarchs are no different. We should involuntarily commit them to mental hospitals to treat their hoarding issues, confiscate the bulk of their treasure, and keep them from rebuilding their fortunes.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The fucking Maggats are like a clown version of the NAZIs, trying to ape their practices whilst being total incompetent klutzes at doing it.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 19 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It would be hilarious if america wasn't fucking stupid enough to fall for it. Every. Damn. Time.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Well, on the upside America might actually survive the Trump regime purelly because of how, even with a fucking master plan seemingly made by smarter people, they're horribly inept at making it work, mainly because everybody in that Administration has been chosen based on loyalty or looks and not at all on demonstrated execution abilities.

Imagine if instead of a gaggle of morons, that Administration was instead made up of competent people with domain-applicable experience.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 63 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

“This is probably not a Hatch Act violation, because it's not tied to an election,” Cynthia Brown, senior ethics counsel at the non-partisan ethics watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), told Forbes.

Not tied to an election? What? What rock are you living under?

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

There really isn't any opposition to the GOP anymore. Just variations of complicity.

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 60 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Good god, the morons in office right now are so fucking stupid. They have to make videos to put out and blame the left for all the dumb shit they do. They did it! They did it! Despite having the minority in all branches of the gov, it's totally them.

Fuck off fascists

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 19 hours ago

The video isn't for us.

It's for their followers.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 112 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

Since when do airports show government propaganda?

[–] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 5 points 7 hours ago

SInce someone realized that it could be done

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 69 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

When the people that operate them are all in. This is what Fascism is, when people want to give them their power.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 38 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Since Fox "News" has been running nonstop on monitors throughout airports for decades.

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Wasn't it a special version of CNN that avoided talking about plane crashes? Pretty sure that was in nearly every airport for a for decades.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Yes, if not FOX then CNN. Did not know about the special version.

[–] notannpc@lemmy.world 33 points 19 hours ago

It should be all of them. Get that fascist propaganda out of here.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 137 points 23 hours ago

As well they should.

The Confederates are breaking the law, again.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 153 points 1 day ago (1 children)

the Hatch Act is only as effective as the White House decides it will be

Lovely

[–] salacious_coaster 40 points 22 hours ago

Same as the Sherman and Clayton anti-trust acts, which is a big reason why we're here now. So, so much of corporate America is patently illegal, and the feds have done fuck-all about it for decades.

[–] RumorsOfLove@lemmy.dbzer0.com 94 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

... And all the other airports in the country broadcast it?

[–] WHARRGARBL@lemmy.world 118 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

It looks like they have capitulated, for now. It wouldn’t hurt to contact your local airport to object, and to organize peaceful demonstrations.

The airports that refuse to bend the knee have also released public statements condemning the video. Let’s show them our support! They are:

Portland International

Seattle-Tacoma International

Buffalo Niagara International

Niagara Falls International

Westchester County

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

When I saw the headline I felt sure my airport was on the list. Sure enough I am right. Love you PDX

[–] SacralPlexus@lemmy.world 56 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Spokane international is on the list as well which is a little surprising as that is an area that favors Republicans in elections.

[–] WHARRGARBL@lemmy.world 55 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Thank you for the Spokane update, SacralPlexus! Also adding:

Charlotte

Cleveland

Los Angeles

Phoenix

Denver

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Glad to hear Denver isn't doing it. It's bad enough that these evil pieces of shit are pushing government propaganda, but there is no reason that major airports in blue states should go along with it.

[–] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Hell yeah Denver! Fucking love this state.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago

Same thing. I hope it stays blue. I know a few Taco-lovers that moved out of state because of all the "wokeness". Pretty fucking weird reason to be moving, if you ask me.

I'd love to see a real instance of "The Storm" if Democrats were to get back in the WH....issue warrants for every single one of those responsible for shit like this.

Arrest every single one of those in his cabinet. Arrest everyone in his family.

I know the pearl-clutching "centrists" will cry about "tone" and "civility" and how this is only going to make Republicans worse. Fuck that. Make Republicans motherfucking SCARED to try this kind of shit again. As they should be.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 6 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

Huge if the democrats go back to the white house: it's time to reconciliation, time to leave the past past and to heal wounds * do nothing *

[–] Sibshops@lemmy.myserv.one 35 points 23 hours ago (8 children)

What is the Republicans end game here? Democrats aren't going to vote for his bill without getting anything in return. Why would anyone think otherwise.

[–] TassieTosser@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Also correct me if I'm wrong but don't the Reps have a majority? Like they don't even need the Dems?

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 33 points 23 hours ago

Have you ever known a child who could manipulate his parents by being stubborn and annoying. The parents are incapable of setting boundaries and caving to the child’s demands is easier than having difficult discussions.

Republicans are the children and Democrats are the patents. The parents are now trying to set a boundary. Expect an epic tantrum from the children.

Whatever happened to the fucking Hatch Act?

[–] JakoJakoJako13@piefed.social 15 points 21 hours ago

Probably floating in some plastic container in the ocean with the rest of the rule of laws they threw out.
