For too long, feminists have focused on unimportant issues like voting rights, equal pay, and the ability to hold credit cards without a male cosigner. This is the only demand that truly matters for gender equality. If women get pockets, then the rest will follow.

I was wondering why my GF (now wife) often gave me stuff like keys to carry when she didn't have her purse with me, since her pants seemed to have pockets. However, they were actually fake pockets. Just a nice looking design but they couldn't actually be opened

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 26 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's a real conspiracy, I'm telling you. They're giving women the little things so that they won't ask for pockets.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 19 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Exactly and as you can see from my example, she immediately lost her independence and needed me to carry things and later get them back. I had the pockets.

This is a big reason that young women feel like they have a lot of pressure to get married to a wealthier man that has the resources to have pockets, or if they can't find one, settle for one that has at least a decent hoodie. I feel like a lot of them wouldn't bother if they didn't have to rely on the pockets of men.

If you own a sewing machine I suggest if any of those clothes have mini pockets ripping the seams and adding fabric to make a big pocket. Help her take back her power!

Women will also complain how stuffed pockets ruin the look of clothes with unsightly bumps and they usually have clothes that are tighter around the body compared to men's clothes. The compromise for the producer was making fake pockets and hope somebody will invent a pocket of holding.

My partner was doing this, sure the jeans don't have pockets but your coat has pockets. But you was just carrying her phone around in her hand all day, just asking for it to be snatched kind of gives me anxiety. All of this because she said she didn't like having things in her pockets, because it made her feel unbalanced.

She seems so unused to pockets that she can't interact with them when she does have the option.

Sometimes when one has been deprived of freedom for a long time, it may feel unnatural to use it.

Hell yes, I'm all for it. It's insanity that we don't have wage parity at this point

Polar bears? ... I seem to remember something about bears being preferred over men.

A woman who has everything she wants.Image of a woman in a risqué cosplay outfit that consists of military style belts with lots of pockets but no actual clothes (Nudist Beach Nonon).

I remember reading a comment saying that women don't actually want pockets. The manufacturers and retailers have data on this.

What's happening is the women who do want them are in online bubbles that give them the impression that most women want pockets.

It's like how most gamers don't give a shit about DRM, so those of us who know better are stuck with it anyway.

There is often a difference between “consumer wants” and “we will not profit enough to bother”

[–] Hackworth@piefed.ca 7 points 5 days ago (9 children)

The only data I could find suggests women do want pockets, particularly in pants.

My SIL doesn't want pockets, but she is wealthy and into style. I think some of the women who don't want pockets are into style and/or looking wealthy enough to not need pockets.

Women who are pragmatic want pockets.

I've been ripping open pockets and sewing more fabric onto them making them big.

[–] tym@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

the lack of pockets is symbolic of sexism.. it's not about packing them full of things.

One of classmates always had deep pockets. One time I joked how deep and she pulled out an umbrella. I wished I asked the brand. I was too confused from what seemed like some sort of Vegas illusion.

[–] Beebabe@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

I definitely want pockets. I’ve had a lot of luck with dresses and baggy work pants. The baggy jeans style has also made pockets easier to find. I feel like having to outsource my storage to a bag I carry is a liability.

definitely possums. Not a woman, but I fucking love possums

[–] Dreaming_Novaling@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Am woman. Love the little guys so much.

opossums@lemmy.world is filled with them 🥹

(I don't know how to properly link a Lemmy community so I hope that did it...)

Also TIL the difference between Opossum and Possum, the white ones who play dead are from North America, while the brown sugar-glider looking friends only live in Australia, New Zealand, and China. They're not the same at all, and in fact Possums are too friendly, don't play dead, and will literally walk up to people.

Particle Projection Cannons?

[–] uid0gid0@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

And an AWS-8Q to mount them on. Just watch your heat.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ah the Awesome. It is indeed pretty awesome.

Though I'm a Marauder man personally.

[–] uid0gid0@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Yes the marauder in all its inceptions is a wonderful machine. I'm planning an all marauder lance for my current playthrough of BTA3062. Marauder II, Nightstar, Marauder IIC, and a MAD-5M (just for nostalgia). All with clan tech

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

So in the HBS Battletech, my ride of choice is a MAD-3R with 2x + LgLas, ++UAC2 and 2x ++MdLas. Double heatsinks all around and maxed out frontal armor. Combine that with Called Shot Mastery and you can CT one shot most opponents.
