Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn't coming because I'm sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Links and Stuff

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

◾️Spain Social Rights Minister Ione Belarra accused Israel of "attempted genocide" in Gaza - calls for Netanyahu to be brought before the International Criminal Court in the Hague:

  • Israel is carrying out a planned genocide in the Gaza Strip, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without light, food and water, and carrying out bombings on the civilian population... the United States and the European Union are not just looking the other way, they are encouraging the State of Israel in its policy of apartheid...

  • The European Union must stop being complicit with a war criminal like Netanyahu... Israel must feel international pressure to end the bombing through all measures at our disposal, such as an arms embargo or sanctions... The European Union must deploy all its diplomatic efforts to end Israel's occupation and apartheid of Palestine, which is the root cause of the conflict.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I saw this and found it interesting/telling. From about 30 seconds onwards, it kinda sounds like the DoD preparing the population for a major confrontation.

I'm trying to figure out the proper way to say this but:

Am I wrong for assuming that there are likely mossad/IDF cyberspies on other instances like .world? I'm just trying to make sure that my mental health isn't deteriorating due to paranoia, but these motherfuckers are hardheaded as shit over there and it's kinda feeling pointless to try and provide any kind of "opposing perspective"(like the fuckin truth).

I know "ppl" is simply an abbreviation but I don't think reporters should use it when the are talking about serious news. I think it has a comic quality.

Biden says he's announcing $100M for Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank, including for displaced ppl

Nitter

The Drones used to strike the US coalition base in Erbil, Iraq.

I don't immediately recognise it

What chain of events would need to happen in order for Israel to fall without using their nukes? The nukes are probably the only reason other countries haven't intervened yet, and I'm not really seeing how that changes regardless of how much Israel ramps up the Palestinian genocide. What is the bloomer take on freeing Palestine?

Kind of surprised whenever the news actually airs an interview with a protestor that calls what Israel is doing genocide. Of course its buried between a bunch of other propaganda, but at least there a small bit of hope of someone seeing that and questioning the narrative.

Here's a little snippet of Cold War history that I thought was interesting but don't know where else to post

spoilerExcerpt from the Senior Research Staff on International Communism's "Proposal for U.S. Action in South Korea" (1960) to the Director of Central Intelligence (Allen Dulles):

During the past two years, SRS has commented on the mounting political hubris against a background of economic corruption which has infected Syngman Rhee, or at least the circles surrounding and perhaps dominating this once venerable hero and leader. In our concern with the study of International Communism, we have pointed out that this course in South Korea was rapidly reaching the point, where, if free elections were held, a majority of South Koreans might well opt for union with the North as a protest.

[...] There would undoubtedly be many who would be shocked or offended by American espousal of the principle of a limited military dictatorship in an allied country. A little reflection should suggest, however, that the forms of democracy which we have approved in Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan have indeed been premature. Inevitably they have led to paternalistic dictatorship, whether by a venerable national hero, a closely knit family, or a tight monopolistic party clinging to the essentially non-democratic forms of an international past. In those areas where our influence, less decisive but perhaps more constructive, has benevolently encouraged patriotic and incorruptible military leaders to assume the responsibility of truly "guiding" the formation of democracy, the results have been promising.

When your veneer of being a democracy cannot be upheld any longer and there's the threat of the people voting for the wrong thing, America turns you into a military dictatorship. This is not paternalistic, it's benevolent, and the beginning of your path to becoming a true democracy!

Hamas said that the movement will publish evidence of Israeli involvement in the attack on a hospital in Gaza and present it to international bodies

Israel evacuated its diplomatic missions from Morocco and Egypt - Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper

Putin confirmed that Russia's main position on the Palestinian issue remains the need to create an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the basis of a UN resolution. This position remains unchanged and the current conflict has not changed it.

Is Chomsky OK? Haven’t heard from him about the present conflict, which I thought he’d have a lot of opinion on.

I also want to know what he now thinks about gaslighting people who didn’t want to take the 10 minutes to vote for Joe Biden back in 2020.

Word is the turks are going to raid the Israeli embassy.

Also the Israeli government just ordered evacuation of Israeli citizens in Turkey apparently

Edit: by turks I mean civilians not the Turkish government

[–] sempersigh@hexbear.net 40 points 2 years ago (11 children)

Hey I just woke up and now Al Jazeera is calling it an 'explosion' instead of israeli raid as they were just last night. Did any actual evidence come out or did they just decide to be careful

Does anyone have a link to that clip showing the similarities between the hospital bombing and a JDAM blast in I think Afghanistan? It also had a part showing what a Hamas rocket looks like. I'm trying to send it to someone.

Pretty sure I can explain the video going around of the supposed "Hamas rocket misfire".

It's a MANPADS missile that self destructs in the air. It was probably fired by Hamas at an incoming plane. Look up videos of MANPADS. The small explosion of fragments they make looks exactly like the one in the video in the air.

The other two explosions on the ground are almost certainly Israeli bombs.

Edit: Even the flight time of the missile matches. The Stinger missile (easiest equivalent to find info on) flies for up to 15-19 seconds which roughly matches the flight time in the video - after which it automatically self destructs.

A three-pulse motor provides additional acceleration and maneuverability during the terminal phase

This is from a different missile, but I believe the concept applies generally in anti-air missiles, and it explains the sudden speed-up and smoke trail before self destruction.

Edit2: And we have seen proof that Hamas has Iranian MANPADS
