Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn't coming because I'm sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

A younger family member alerted me to the fact that there seems to be a big push right now to pay influencers, predominantly on TikTok, to produce pro-Israel propaganda content.

Other content creators who have posts supportive of Palestine in their past have apparently had brands and agencies offer to double their money for content deals already signed if they remove them and issue retractions.

It also seems that those who refuse are often being targeted, usually semi-anonymously but immeadiately afterward on their personal numbers, with threats.

The most active campaign seems to be the Hostages & Missing Families Forum, which has also been petitioning the Red Cross, pressuring other Arab governments politically, and spending big money on TV & online ads, and projecting messages onto UN buildings. Google them for a variety of articles on each action.

They pitch themselves as Israeli physicians and family members of the kidnapped who only want to display pictures of their missing loved ones and are supposedly campaigning simply for humanitarian aid to reach their relatives held in Gaza.

Behind the scenes they actually seem to be a well funded, professional lobbying group trying to AstroTurf support for Israel in general. They have no website or public details I can find, but there are hundreds of articles quoting them, seemingly based upon their press releases, and some mention having been to their offices. Not to mention that some of their statements to friendly or Israeli media and figures cast doubt on their support for humanitarian aid:

"Children, infants, women, soldiers, men and elderly, some with serious illnesses, wounded and shot, are held underground like animals" the Hostage and Missing Families Forum said in a statement. "But the Israeli government pampers the murderers and kidnappers" - from the National Post

An Al Jazeera digital investigation found no grounds for the Israeli army's claim that the strike on the al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza was caused by a failed rocket launch.

I did a double check and it's true: Youtube comments regarding Israel-Palestine are more reasonable than Reddit's. I think a lot of it has to do with Youtube, for all its flaws, being more diverse than Reddit. A lot of people in the Arab/Muslim world have access to Youtube through their smartphones compared to Reddit where it's not as popular.

I think slavery is abhorrent, but I think that slaves have a moral duty to be compliant and meek in response to their masters. In that way I think it's sad, but justified, when the masters brutalize and kill their slaves for disobedience. Property rights are the foundation of our world order afterall<- every american lib

Lmao France just keeps evacuating airports because of bomb threat, they evacuated 9 airports yesterday, already 3 today.

Bringing the air transport industry to it's knees with fake bomb threats is pretty good tactics, climate activists should adopt it

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of banning athletes from participating for political reasons. He said that if this logic is followed, Israel should be excluded due to the conflict in the Middle East.

US to Send Israel Artillery Shells Initially Bound for Ukraine

The US is sending Israel tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells that were designated for Ukraine, Axios reported on Thursday.

Israeli officials requested the artillery shells as they’re preparing for a ground invasion of Gaza and worried about an escalation with Hezbollah and the possibility of a northern front.

Earlier this year, the US began dipping into a weapons stockpile it has in Israel to ship more artillery shells to Ukraine. According to Axios, Israel has requested that the US replenish its stockpile of ammunition in Israel in case the Israeli military needs them on short notice. The US agreed to the request and is expected to send the 155mm shells in the coming weeks.

The US stockpile in Israel is controlled by the US military. But under the arrangement, Israel can use the ammunition in a war scenario with US approval and was granted access during the 2006 Lebanon war and 2014 Gaza war.

Israel has been using more 155mm shells since the October 7 attack as it has fired artillery into Gaza and into Lebanon during skirmishes with Hezbollah. The demand will increase significantly if Israel launches its expected ground invasion of Gaza.

The transfer of shells initially bound for Ukraine to Israel raises questions about the US military’s ability to provide weapons and ammunition for the two wars. According to the Pentagon, the US has so far provided Ukraine with over 2 million 155mm artillery shells.

CNN reports a US Navy vessel near Yemen's coast has come under fire and intercepted missiles fired by Iranian-backed Houthi militants!

A UN Security Council resolution on Iran’s missile program has expired today. Russia is free to deliver hypersonic missiles to Iran. First deliveries are probably arriving at Iranian ports. Russia will support Iran in the upcoming war against Israel/US. Payback for Ukraine.

So what's going to happen with the "Uighur Genocide" talking point and zenz 2 odd years from now? Because if completely blocking off Gaza, cutting off food, water, electricity. Bombing hospitals and churches with hundreds and hundreds of photos of ruined apartment blocks and dead children don't count as genocide according to the west, then how in the hell are they going to cook up some proof of how what China is doing is the real genocide?

Hebrew media: An IDF tank accidentally fired a short time ago and hit an Egyptian position near the border in the Kerem Shalom area. The incident is being investigated and the details are under review.

IDF are attacking Egypt positions.

Israel really thinks it can fight a war on literally every single border it has.

EDIT: Israeli media now says this occurred "by mistake" doubt

"I just accidentally shot at your positions on your side of the border by accident uwu."

Average centrist public figure: One thousand years of blood for every Israeli killed.

Average liberal public figure: I just hope that everyone can come to their senses and stop this violence, which, to be clear, no one in particular is responsible for. Legally you can not get mad at me for saying this.

Israeli politician: “The children of Gaza have brought this upon themselves” (18th of October, 2023)

It really is hard to imagine a more malicious statement than “the children of Gaza have brought this upon themselves” when children in Gaza are now being massacred by the hundreds. But this was actually said in a recent Knesset session. And it wasn’t someone considered an extreme right-winger, but a liberal centrist – Meirav Ben-Ari from Yair Lapid’s opposition party Yesh Atid.

This is a fast food in Valence, France. That big "CHAMAS TACOS" sign is lit up at night. And recently the initial "C" failed (which is admittedly pretty funny).

So, as happens in a totally normal country, cops immediately went down there to order the sign be turned off or the fast food be closed

The idea that Hamas soldiers were just walking around with instructions on how to make chemical weapons is so mind numbingly stupid that I'm worried I might explode on any normies who parrot this nonsense IRL.

Al-Aqsa Flood Plan according to Israel:

Step 1: Behead all babies in immediate vicinity

Step 2: Conduct science experiment to create Sarin using common household cleaning supplies

Step 3: Sabotage our rocket battery and fire them at our hospitals

Egyptian MP Mustafa Bakri speaks in an emergency parliamentary session today

Translation:

Nasser said that what was lost with violence, can only be restored with violence

No peace with the killers and no deals

Down with Camp David, down with Wadi Araba, down with Oslo, war is the solution

This is why we give a mandate to the Supreme Commander (of the Armed Forces), and activate Article 152 (basically an Egyptian law that allows parliament to declare war) - mic cut off here

In Canada the only party showing any support for Palestinians is the NDP, which is sad because they're the most milquetoast socdems I've ever seen and their support is similarly weak. But when one representative goes a little bit farther and actually calls for ending the occupation of Palestine, the party leadership forces her to apologize and the government of Ontario is trying to prevent the MPP from being recognized as a sitting representative. Literally exposing how meaningless our conceptions of liberal democracy are when the people who voted for this representative are being told they can't actually vote for those ideas because it's out of step with the western party line
