2) All posts must end with a '?'This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?

3) No spamPlease do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.

4) NSFW is okay, within reasonJust remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com. NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].

5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions. If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.

6) No US Politics.

I want to try Lemmy, but most of the stuff I see are reposts or memes I had seen before on Reddit.

Anything attractive here?

It’s what you don’t see. Astroturfing, Nazis, selling your data to advertisers and LLMs. We made our own Reddit, with blackjack and hookers.

It’s true that Big Lemmy isn’t selling your data to LLMs. Here it gets given away to them for free because that’s the nature of federation. By now they’ve certainly stood up an instance so that they’re receiving the full firehose of ActivityPub in an easily digestible format (and they get to just ignore those pesky delete messages).

But bots posting AI slop is still only a nascent problem here. Most of your discussion is generally with humans.

Note: farm-to-blackjack-table and free-range hookers. No big farma here.

There's extremists on Lemmy too, but they're mostly on defederated instances like hexbear and lemmygrad or whatever it's called now.

I dunno if this is what you looking for, but here's a feed of lemmy communities that are not tech- or meme- or politics-centered: https://piefed.social/f/highsignal

I personally use Lemmy Today, which is a de-federated instance that relies on people using remote communities. Almost everything is uncensored, because the mods on there happened to be pretty lax with it.

I still go to reddit and you are basically describing reddit itself: It's a bunch of reposts. Not sure what you mean about "uncensored" exactly but if you're talking about NSFW stuff, there's instances that cater to that sort of thing here too.

You will get better results if you browse all and start subscribing to things you actually like, then set your filter to subscribed and you're off to the races!

Instances in plural? You mean there's more than the one?

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 3 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

There are dozens, probably more like hundreds of different instances out there, all with different rules.

there's a bot, @bot@lemmit.online that mirrors posts to Reddit to communities on lemmit.online. You can either block the bot or block the instance if you don't want that.

Just find new communities. For example !fedimemes@feddit.uk and !fediverse@lemmy.world are pretty original.

Block the people that repost content from reddit and you will find them in your home soon or later

When starting here, I found it a nice way for finding interesting communities to go to different instances' pages with my web browser and browsing their Local. A lot of communities I would never have thought of!

So, go to sopuli.xyz and see what their Local has to offer, then go to piefed.social for the same. And suppo.fi and Solarpunk (is it slrpnk.net or what?) and what is there still? Blåhaj at least. You can see what instances interesting commentators are coming from and check out the rest of that instance's atmosphere by just writing that instance's address in your browser's URL bar.
