Pirate it and encourage all your friends to pirate it.

Amazon has financed the Expanse. That's it. The evil fuckers have zero credit to the quality of the TV adaptation. It was two seasons at SyFy - then, sadly but unsurprisingly, SyFy was unable to turn it into a source of revenue (Hi Firefly :( ) and amazon financed it because the shitbucket in chief at amazon is an Expanse fan.

Hey now. No need to drag shitbuckets through the mud here. 🤌🏼

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 7 points 2 hours ago

Plenty of Amazon shows are also shit. Just like how Netflix and all the others have a mix of good shows and bad shows.

I want to believe, I really do, but basically every “new version of thing I loved from childhood” has been profoundly disappointing.

My guess: [bad guy] comes back because [good guy] is actually bad guy now, in a complete reversal of their entire character growth arc, and [bad thing that we took care of in the last show] is back because [history erasing lazy writing so they can just tell the same story again].

I see you have also seen [show/movie brought back after a long gap]!

Produced by just means "paid for by," anyway.

So there's a chance it can still suck if Amazon pays the wrong people to make it.

[–] SatyrSack@quokk.au 23 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Even if they pay the right people, it may still suck if they try to influence the creative process at all. Over all, I am not optimistic.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The showrunner worked on all three of the TV series so as long as he doesn’t try something like rebooting SGU it might be good.

But if it starts with a drastically older Robert Carlyle defrosting I’m only giving it two episodes.

The one actor who I most want to reprise their role is Michael Welch as Jack

[–] higgsboson@piefed.social 3 points 2 hours ago

Do you know why Ha'tak floats but a Chappa'ai cannot?

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I feel like I should... but I am drawing a blank. Illuminate me?

Rings of Power.

The problem is when they abruptly cut off funding and sit on the IP indefinitely.

That's what they did to James Bond .

[–] greyfox@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I thought James Bond is special though? The family still gets to approve the script, so the issue is that Amazon wants to milk it with a crap story, and the family says no this isn't good enough.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

So Amazon sits on the IP because Bezos doesn't get his way

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 4 hours ago

Or if they demand changes, which usually comes with the territory of the person writing the checks.

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 8 points 4 hours ago

Carnival Row wasn't too bad either IMO

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

But what about the rings of power?

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

Oh god. I thought that was an AI joke image...

The money comes from somewhere shitty always with these things. All you can do is hope they stay out of it as much as possible and let the artists do their thing

[–] StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I'll believe it when it gets released.

Checking the stock price of NVIDIA to determine how many movies get made this year.

[–] Aneb@lemmy.world 1 points 13 minutes ago

Can you explain this comment please I don't understand. Is it a CGI related thing because NVIDIA sells GPUs?
