Me and my friends have been working on a free and open-source cooking game in Godot in our free time. We'd appreciate any feedback!

This looks great! I'm looking forward to trying it out. Not many games have brought so much fun (and trauma) to friends and family as the Overcooked series. Just hearing the beep of the "food is ready, don't let it spoil" sound spiked my blood pressure.

Just played. Love it.

With 3bots it was a little crammed.

Maybe the bots can do an instant position switch with you, if you push on them for 1.5seconds.

Could mark the green bin as a bin(for burnt steaks, I had to guess).

Graphics polished. Gameplay excellent. Settings comprehensive.

Well done all round.

(I agree that an FDroid version would be handy, and give you wide exposure)

Thank you very much! Boosting against other players or bots makes you move though them. I agree the bin could be more intuitive. We are also planning an F-Droid release soon.

That explains it, I had not found how to boost. ⏪

It looks pretty identical to PlateUp! (2022)

[–] tpart@feddit.org 27 points 1 week ago

It was indeed inspired by other popular cooking games like Overcooked!, PlateUp! or Cook, Serve, Delicious!, but we designed it to be more flexible. For instance, we have a very simple tile based map format and we eventually want to add a map editor which would allow anyone to design and share their own maps.

Awesome, my friends and I have been looking for something after overcooked. Do you plan on adding it to F-Droid app store?

[–] tpart@feddit.org 3 points 1 week ago

Yes, we are planning to add it on F-Droid soon, but we're still struggling with the build system.

If nothing else, it looks like you've got the grass handled. That's the number one thing in a cooking game 😛

Cute name, cute graphics, cute style. This is adorable all across the board!

What did you use on the music side of things? Neigsendoig and I might want to do something about that and help to contribute somehow.

[–] tpart@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We currently don't have any music (except for in the menu screen), so any help would be welcome! If you want to, you can join our Matrix space: https://matrix.to/#/#hurrycurry:metamuffin.org

I could probably have Neigsendoig join it, since he's more into it than I am at the moment (though, I could probably have him send things I could make). You'll see him as neigdoig (Nitro Chat), since he bailed from Matrix[dot]org.

Installed, will check it out tomorrow (Android)

Nice! Looks fun! How about some diversity in the characters though?

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

This looks fantastic! Gonna check this out with my kids.

Looks fun, but is it online only? Couldn't find a singleplayer option.

[–] tpart@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There's no real singleplayer, since the server is required to handle a lot of the game logic. If you want to play alone, you can simply start a local server and join it.

[–] bonenode@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Then maybe a feedback for a future release, just add a singleplayer button that does that in the background so it is clearer for users.
