That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Actor: Dwight Schultz

I was watching the 2010 version of the A-Team (great movie imo), and I wanted to know what cameos there were (because I suck at recognizing actors). Lo and behold, to my delight, the cross-over of all cross-overs: Star Trek and A-Team.

~I love it when a plan comes together.~

Edit: This just keeps getting better!!!! 53:58 on Netflix.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 27 points 23 hours ago

The worst thing about the internet is that any moron can express their dumb, uninformed opinions.

The second worst thing is that I get to learn which celebrities are dumb, uninformed morons.

Did he learn nothing about empathy and compassion from playing Barclay on Star Trek!?

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 22 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Barclay would probably identify with a lot of that super toxic incel crap, which can be a stepping stone to extremism.

I know the character worked it out to some extent, but I wouldn't be surprised if it lingered.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 13 hours ago

He just learned to cover it better.

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 8 points 20 hours ago

I pity a fool that don’t act right.

[–] goldteeth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

learned quite a bit about being a whackadoodle from playing murdock, though

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

That seems to be a growing trend. Such a shame. 😢

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 8 points 22 hours ago

Are you kidding me? He was always my favourite A-Team character. This is really disappointing.

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago

Damn it Barclay!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Barclay was a Gooner. That whole holodeck incident was a metaphor for porn addiction, which will be a major issue when holodecks come along. If I had one, I'd never leave.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 10 hours ago

I mean, I'd never leave either, but I'd also be doing not-porn stuff in there during my refractory period.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

I know a guy in a space station, deep in outer space, that can help you with that.

At the time, I knew her from Free Willy.

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 20 hours ago

Oh shit! I always thought she looked familiar and I never recognised her.

Now I wanna see Barclay in the holodeck playing Murdock in an A-Team simulation on Lower Decks.

In a somewhat related vein, I also had the idea of Scott Bakula playing Archer, but he's actually Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap having leapt into Archer.

For those like me who didn't quite get it:

The movie that plays at the Mannheim psychiatric hospital begins with The A-Team (1983) theme music, and its credits contain names that relate to the original team's careers: The first name credited is "Reginald Barclay". Dwight Schultz, who was the original Murdock, played a character named Reginald Barclay in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). The next credit reads "Thomas Banacek". George Peppard, who was the original Hannibal, played investigator Thomas Banacek in Banacek (1972). The third and final credit reads "G.F. Starbuck". Dirk Benedict, who was the original Face, played Lieutenant Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica (1978).

But how did they know his role that was still as yet in the future?

[–] Framptonian@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago

Geez, I had no idea! Thanks for sharing. Watched the A-team almost religiously back then.
