Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

I can't bring myself to watch Piers Morgan a second time in less than a week. How did Hasan do?

[–] AsleepInspector@hexbear.net 81 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Pretty well. He kept getting interrupted by the bastard, and some of his points may have been incomplete for it since he was shouted over by Piers, he had hella names/quotes to back up the positions he was claiming everyone had on each side off-hand.

Piers ended it with, "Well, if it was as easy [as your solution], I'm sure it would have been done already," dismissive twat, instead of acknowledging what Palesteniand deserve, like Hasan did at the end, rights-wise.

For being called a propagandist, he did a shite job disproving the fact.

I think Hasan handled that distraction well. Piers clearly thinks that “propagandist” means “state-sponsored journalist”. Hasan said it as an offhand comment and then quickly shamed Piers for going on a tangent about how good his own reputation is.

Match Point - Hasan

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 58 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I made it a couple minutes in before I wanted to do harm to Piers and had to turn it off

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It gets better in the second "round". Hasan slow-rolled him and made him the fool, in my opinion.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

well i've had my weekend water so maybe i'll try again

it may not help at all

[–] dmonzel@lemm.ee 58 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Morgan kept trying to talk over Hasan (because that's the only way he knows how to "win" a "debate"), but Hasan kept calling him out on it.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

because that's the only way he knows how to "win" a "debate"

lib-status

[–] SnAgCu@hexbear.net 70 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Is Piers Morgan uniquely awful or are they all like that? He invites on some bloke just to completely ignore and talk over them the whole time unless they're decisive enough to tell him to shut the fuck up.

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 45 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

He is super awful.

The joke is Piers only brings on guests so terrible that they make him look good in comparison, in the eyes of the general public. Andrew Tate, Kanye West in his Nazi era, etc...

Sometimes it backfires.

[–] Tachanka@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

the type of people who watch right wing pundits admire that kind of behavior. it get ratings.

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

He is especially bad and does that whenever a leftist person is on

Jeremy Clarkson may be a wanker but at least he punched Piers Morgan in the face once

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's not on video. It's because Morgan published photos of Clarkson cheating on his wife when Morgan was editor of The Daily Mirror.

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

oh, that must have been when he was "heading major publications, doing journalism".

Cheers mate!

[–] Pili@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can't believe Morgan actually did something based. Is that real?

[–] niph@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Don’t get too excited, he also hacked a dead girl’s voicemail

[–] Goadstool@hexbear.net 52 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (3 children)

I made a rare exception to watch an Interruptathon for Bassem Youssef but I can't go another round. Hope Hasan got to actually say more than 7 consecutive words defending Palestine at some point during the interview though.

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 40 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Hasan killed it, as much as he could have in. Letting Piers interrupt him for the first segment, asking if he could finish only twice before letting Piers shout over him, lulling him into a false sense of security and control.

Then in the next round Hasan absolutely steamrolls over his pleading opponent begging to get a word in, drops the APARTHEID STATE haymaker and reversing the "do you condemn" chokehold.

All while making Piers look like the absolute self-centered propagandist he began the show protesting he was. Fucking masterful.

I think I understand boxing now.

[–] Goadstool@hexbear.net 29 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Piers is so incredibly unlikeable, I feel like it has to be the point. He comes off as the pinnacle of "pompous", and I can't help but feel like it's intentional. It's like looking at a cartoon villain; surely I, as a viewer, am supposed to hate him, right?

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yes!*

*see above in thread

[–] ScrewdriverFactoryFactoryProvider@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Bassem was more entertaining imo. Opening up with that joke about trying to murder his wife was a strong choice.

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 31 points 2 years ago

Dude found a way to make the one boomer joke funny.

Damn Youssef was incredible

[–] Antiwork@hexbear.net 52 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I wish he would have had a quarter of the contempt for Piers as he has for his chat.

[–] SerLava@hexbear.net 59 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Wouldn't want to go that hard on the show, for the optics

also his chat does suck lmao

Hasan is just a babysitter for libs

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

He did call him a "~~baboon in a suit~~ propagandist"!!!

Funny to me the baboon thing wasn't really discussed but Piers seemed pretty defensive about the propagandist accusation.

[–] sovietknuckles@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

In the edited video that was published after originally aired, they edited out the part at the beginning where Piers plays the clip of Hasan said he'd love to go on Piers's show and call him a baboon in a suit (but not the part where Piers talks about it). Maybe Piers realized in retrospect how petty he looked

[–] sloth@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

Fancy that.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's kinda hilarious that mainstream TV is dragging themselves down to the level of a twitch stream

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

Piers Morgan probably brought him on because "oh, he's just a Twitch streamer. I could easily beat him."

[–] Tachanka@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

streamio killed the video star kelly

[–] What_Religion_R_They@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago

18:13 "Let me just say this really quickly you said Israel has a right to defend itself absolutely zero people think that this is a ridiculous statement however..."

...

🙋‍♀️ I think it's a ridiculous statement.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

A part of me wonders if perhaps Piers intentionally got Hasan to just keep the discussion in regards to whether he's (Hasan) a propagandist and making stuff up than have a direct discussion about the ethnic cleansing going on, either that or Piers took it really personally to be called a propagandist.

It's funny that Hasan has criticized one or two other people Piers spoke to about what's happening in Gaza, talking about what they should've said, but let himself get bogged down in something arguably trivial.

Also doesn't help that Piers feels like he's got a lib's capability of understanding context; Every time a guest of his tried to give context for what's happening in Israel-Palestine, I look at Piers and I can almost hear the sound of crickets. If you can't given an 'in a nutshell' answer, you're gonna get nowhere with him, and the conflict between Israel and Palestine is complex, insomuch as 'Israel has committed unending cruelty and viciousness in the region and never stopped pretending to be the true victim the whole time' is a simplified understanding of the complex nature of butchery, warmongering, belligerence, terrorism and genocide that led to what Israel is today.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's easy to criticize while a discussion is happening I guess, less pressure and less in your head

“How am I a propagandist?” The answer is so easy, just ask: “who is paying your salary?” Hexbear thinks hasan did well but I thought he dropped the ball here.
