I accepted having entered old status when I reached 31.
The older I get, the better it gets. I love being "old" for young people. Happy to be excluded from the prevailing culture, slang/lingo, fashion, trends, etc. Being old is a much much more comfortable place to be for me.
Yeah, I remember thinking "when I'm old, I'll still be able to keep up with all the new stuff because of the internet."
It's true! I can do that.
I no longer care to, but I can!
The weirdest part is how as soon as I decided to give up and wear comfy, ugly (to me) clothes, they came back in style. I straight up started wearing my dad’s old clothes (I’m afab, maybe an egg, but I definitely read as a woman to others) and long socks (in the cooler months- part of getting older for me is that things start to ache when they get cold), which I felt a little insecure about. Then somehow shortly thereafter the kids in my college town started doing it too. I’m glad younger women don’t feel like they have to wear all the uncomfortable stuff I did though, it’s just a little surprising.
I'm 50, what do you mean "old status"? I'm young but there's some seriously suspicious stuff going on with my body.
Im actually impressed by a lot of younger people today. Many are quite wise. When I was 18, I dont think my brain worked properly even.
I specially love the ones who challenge the 9-5 bullshit and the American dream bullshit.
